82 turbo 280zx vs. 84 300zx NA

Would my 82 turbo 280zx be able to stay with a 84 300zx NA? Both are auto.

Your Z will eat a stock n/a alive. You're probably any where from .5-.8 seconds quicker through the quarter mile.

Yeah back when I first got mine, my buddy got himself a Z31 while his corvette was awaiting a rebuild and we ran. I took him. Not by much, but I still took him. Of course I had to limp my baby home because two of my injector clips lost their wiring during the run, but that problem has since been fixed. Those things don't make that much more hp but they are packing on the pounds compared to the s130. And the fact that you're running a turbo against his NA=no competition. Period. Unless his car is stripped of every peice of anything that's not holding the car together Go get him. Mines an NA with very little modification other than weight reduction.

I looked up the numbers and you're right. the 300zx is nothing until the 90's
Check http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html
and you will see that my turbo 280zx will stay up with a 1985 turbo 300zx

Yeah you don't mess around with the Z32. That my friend, is what I would classify as a super car (TT anyways). Oh sure it came pretty detuned from the factory, but a few cheap mods and you're pouncing all over cars that cost twice as much, plus. Not to mention the fact it could handle like a dream (HICAS was a bit touchy). Sure sure, throw in the unreliable bit. But what super car has a great reliability record that could keep up with a lightly modded Z32? 400HP with a boost controller, downpipes, and exhaust. That's all it takes.
