Car cuts off

I've heard this was a common problem with 280zx's so maybe someone will know...

I've browsed threw a few pages trying to find this issue, so i thought i'd just ask..

My turbo car has a problem cutting off...Ever since i parked it and tried to get it out again. It's kinda random, but when it gets in the "zone" of cutting off, any more than 30% or so throttle will cause it to choke. If the throttle is held too long (more than an instant is too long) it will stall of course - like a carb with a poorly adjusted back barrel. The car will eventually probably shut off anyway if it wants, even at idle.

It starts perfectly otherwise... You can tell just when it's about to cut off, it will start idling lower and lower, you can hear it from across the parking lot...

It's either fuel or ignition...Fuel pump is pretty old, car has 150K on it...When it cuts off it won't start for a few minutes, once on the side of the road we squirted starting fluid in the intake and it started right up... Of course this could have just been a coincidence. This sounds "cut and dry" pardon the pun, but here's the wrench. Once, immidately after it cut off the line was FULL of pressure when we checked the fuel filter...

We've known people with this issue with many Z cars. In one such case, something was loose/wet in the kick panel and hundreds of dollars had been spent on the fuel system...

An easy start would be to swap the fuel filter for a fresh one. Then check and see if the fuel pressure is constant and not dropping. Another check would be the throttle position sensor, air flow meter, and to check the general condition of the connectors for your fuel injectors, head temp sensor and ecu harness.
