WTF is an open proxy server???

I thought I finally resolved my issues with connecting to chat and now it's telling me I've been blacklisted because I have an open proxy server. WTF does that mean??? I've been trying off and on all night to get into chat but it wont let me. I haven't changed anything on my computer since the last time I used the chat so what gives?

I scanned for viruses, adware, and spyware after updating all definitions. Found one virus, which was contained in my registry. I restored my registry and got rid of the virus and now it still wont let me log in. Still gives me the same message.

pretty much means your line is open for others to come in and use...so they blacklisted your IP because they dont want people tapping into the rest of our computers...are you still on dial up?

no I'm not on dial up anymore. I fixed the problem with my hi speed and have been using it for a while now. Like I said I didn't make any changes to my computer at all between the last time I used chat and when this started happening. So I don't get why I could use it before and not now. So how is this problem fixed?

OK, I fixed the problem. I guess from when I had the Trojan my IP got blacklisted and despite the fact that I fixed the problem my IP was permanently on the blacklist. So I renewed my IP and the problem is fixed. I'm assuming the original problem with the open proxy server is gone because I was allowed back in with my new IP. I also removed all exceptions from my firewall.
