Tire size for S130 79-83
Hello,
Saw in the post that someone had 195 X 60 X 14 on his S130 (280 ZX). That tire is too small and will make the
speedometer read too fast. Stock tire size up through 1981 is 195 X 70 X 14, 6 inch standard and alloy wheels.
205 X 60 X 15 on the 15 inch wheels.
Tire size change, 1982 and 83, 205 X 70 X 14, which is what I am running on my 1981 Datsun 280ZX 2 + 2. Speed matches my gps up to about 73, then goes a bit haywire with the speedo showing me going faster than my GPS. I have tried 225 X 60 X 14 for the 6" wheel. Just a bit too small. The 235 X 60 X 14, theoretically matches the 205 X 70 X 14 specs but I need to change the wheels to 6.5 width. Problem is that the 225s rubbed on the shock and strut shafts during cornering, so thing the 235s would be too wide. Thing cornered on rails with the 225s though. The 205 X 70 X 14 look best on the car.
One google a tire size calculator to compare the sizes. I am using BF Goodrich T/A Radials because I like the raised white letters. Car came with Bridgestone raised white letter tires when I bought the car in July 1981..with 195 X 70 X 14 tires.
