Favorite Tire Brand

i'm tired of seeing my 4.XX% vote for most annoying poster on the side so i'm making a new poll. i'll be in the market for tires soon and thought i'd use this opportunity to get some oppinions. the brands i'm listing aren't anywhere near all inclusive or organised, seeing as i may be listing brands and daughter companies in the same list without realizing it.

disclaimers: this is for your favorite brand of "performance tires". don't vote for your favorite brand of truck tires. also, i'm most interested in streetable performance tires, if that should sway your decision any.

I've got Yokohomas on the Porsche. 280 Treadwear and very grippy. They are very good in the rain, too. (Not the snow!). And the plus side was they cost me ~$60 a tire (205 ?Forgot?R15). However, I do not think they make the exact tire I have anymore. Check out some AutoX sites for really good performance street tire discussions, too.

nice.

The BFG KDW's have held up very well thru numerous track days and canyon runs. They are getting noisier as they wear.

Toyo!

jverz 04-21-2010 09:35 AM

I use BF Goodrich on my American cars, and Yokohoma on Japanese cars. I don't know if that's how the pricing works out or I'm just weird that way. Probably the later.

hoov100 04-21-2010 01:05 PM

Hoosier or yokohama, hands down some of the best performing and priced tire available. (I go through about 8 hoosiers almost every weekend!)

KasbeKZ 04-21-2010 01:07 PM

man you just do everything.

No, I just spend ALOT of time around race cars/bikes/tracks.

(also when you know the right people, you end up spending ALOT less then most think)

mayitin 04-22-2010 05:19 PM

If I can aford it Yokohoma If I can not Fuzion

jverz 04-22-2010 05:54 PM

Actually, I take that back.. I used Yokohoma Ice Guards on the `86 Firebird. Best damn snow tires I've EVER rode on.

The Falken ziex 512 tires are pretty good. Very grippy and good on dry and wet pavement. They do suck on snow though. Last December I got stuck in the middle of a flat road on already packed snow. lol

I love my Toyo Proxys 215 60 17. They have a good tread pattern for rain but I only drive on sunny days. Up here they still salt the roads with a spray so when it rains the salt solution comes up.
I would love to run with CanyonCarver through Solidad Casnyon some day!

PurePontiacKid 05-16-2010 02:37 PM

I got Falken 912's on my Z, they're awesome in my book. gonna get 512's for my new wheels though, unidirectional and better for stretching :D

WildmaN 05-21-2010 03:14 PM

I voted for the Yokohamas. Anyway I remember countless times. When the ground was wet, after a hard rain. I would purposely, turn fast in a corner. Of course I would slide a bit, but as soon as the tires gripped. I was back on the road straight. Amazing tires for the price. (on my 280zx) Then on my Firebird, I have Bf Goodrich, awesome muscle car tires.

DatsunDave08 04-21-2011 09:57 AM

Rollin Hankooks on the 260Z (275/40ZR17's and 245/45ZR17's) and Rykon 225/50ZR16's on the 70' 240Z. Very happy with the price and performance of both.

In my opinion Perelli and Hankook are the best! My dad had Perelli PZERO on his '05 C6 drop-top Corvette, those tires would grip extremely good in rain.

zxtman 08-02-2011 01:16 PM

...not a good poll

You have left out popular brands like Hoosier, Falken and Kumho.
The "Other" selection seems to be quite popular...

SleepyJ 09-24-2011 07:14 PM

I use BFG GeForce on Both my vehicles! No complaints!

SHADY280 09-29-2011 05:05 PM

nitto tires are my fav. i find the falken 912 to be good on dry but customer complaints about wet performance. the yoko's are decent all the way around, not many customer complaints.

SpeciallySpiked 09-30-2011 09:15 AM

I would update this and say I now have the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs on the Porsche and they are AMAZING!

turbopuppy 06-22-2012 12:45 PM

Goodyear is only US make and sadly un represented

KC81ZX 07-12-2012 07:47 AM

I have to run Toyo's RA1 on my Spec Miata. Great grip, decent life.
