i once saw a first gen Z (i think 240, but it was years ago) in my local AutoTrader magazine that had been put onto a chevy 4x4 frame, and the unibody had somehow been SPLIT IN TWO and the front end pivoted forward (kinda like a corvette) BUT THE WHOLE REST OF THE CAR PIVOTED BACKWARDS...... the cab, and the rear deck are, ALL LIFTED TO A _VERY_ SERIOUS degree!!! it totally blew my mind that someone would A) do something this friggin nuts.. and B) turn around and sell it.. i guess "the wife" struck again.. (with my apologies to any feminiZts....)

here are some race baja bugs.
the grey baja cost more than 100k for the buyer
then there is a stretch lambo...

AllmyZs Nov 28, 2004 11:05 AM

I just have 1 question....... Why?

I mean why buy a sport car and make it a useless POS that you cat drive. That is like buying a Hummer and slamming it. What is the point besides showing you have no idea what a car is suppose to do. :headspin:

emo236 Dec 7, 2004 11:08 PM

well, baja bugs are pretty common and actually pretty bad sometimes. they can be quite the baja racers, thus the name.

OlderThanMe Dec 10, 2004 02:29 PM

it is completely stupid to take a perfectly good sports car and lift it at all. But... when it comes to bugs that is a totally different story. Right now I am designing a long travel baja with 20 in. of travel upfront and about the same in the back. I am converting it from torsion bar suspension to dual A-arms on all four corners. This conversion is going to take a lot of welding and fabrication to build the tube-frame and A-arm mounts and steering. I am going to buy the doner bug from my friend for $100 w/out a motor. then I will start hacking :woot: and getting the full length roll cage fabricated. the bug will be my car to drive and then I am going to strip my z down and redo the whole thing ground-up. :bling:

there are some long travel buggies and bugs here. I am going to mix the black and the yellow one to make my long travel baja bug

Why do inbred redneck southerners feel the need to jack up everything 2-3 feet off the ground?

Sounds like "Compensating for little dick syndrome" to me.

CanyonCarver Dec 15, 2004 05:44 AM

Or....... because they're always knee deep in $hit.

OlderThanMe Dec 17, 2004 05:19 PM

hey... most of this crap was done in so.cal. so don't blame it on us southerners for making everything stupid and crappy looking. we do have a lot of red sticky mud though :bling: I am doing a baja bug with custom front dual A-arm setupthat will have more ground cleanance down the middle than a Hummer H1. :hpydance:

emo236 Dec 17, 2004 07:19 PM

IT's definitly not just rednecks. Plus, some would say spending money to make a car fast is compensating. It's just their hobby, go easy on em rizz.

my dad used to have a pretty bad ass pos back in the day. He had a chevy cheyenne that was lifted about 4 1/2 feet or so off of the ground, to the point where we could probably fit his porsche 914 under it. The truck would drive over everything, and I remember him driving it back in '86 when it flooded really bad. We'd take it to the lake and go crazy with it. Too bad he sold it, it was a fun off road truck.

Ahh!! My absolute dream car stretched into a long limo pos! Execute them, what a discrace! And by the way, I know of a brown 280z lifted up here in Arizona. It tripped me out when I saw it going down the freeway with it's crap brown and all! The spare tire in the back. Definately backyard mechanic action. Also I have seen a orange Gremlin lifted up when I was driving down the freeway! Yuck!

WildmaN Jun 10, 2005 01:53 PM

Yuck that is putrid! :p 2 + 2's are bad enough but lifted on jerry rigged backyard action? Pathetic, if he wants a lifted vehicle get a truck. If he wants a sportscar, normal, get a car. But don't lift something that is not meant to be lifted! Yeah where is the puking smilie when I need one? Barff!!!
