Nissan Titan?

I was thinking of picking up a used Nissan Titan so I don't have to drive my Z in winter. Does anyone here have one? and how reliable are they? I test drove an 05 and they drive nice but I've been hearing horror stories of the front/rear diffs grenading and rotors warping horribly.

SportBikeMike 10-19-2010 12:02 PM

I'm almost positive someone on here has one....can't remember off hand who it was.:102: I don't think there is much to worry about with Japanese trucks...

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 12:15 PM

Thats sorta what figured Maybe I'll see if theres a good Nissan Titan forums and ask around. lol

260zturbo 10-19-2010 01:43 PM

I HAD one...great truck but they have problems like all other vehicles. Great room and badass engine. Gotta watch out for when the cat burns out and f's the engine up. the gas gauge goes out as well as climate switch. But they suck pretty bad on gas. Nissan has a call back on the cats but they found something wrong that the previous owner did and voided it all. so i wasnt going to poney up for a new block so i bought a 07 frontier. just wish they would put the 5.6 in the frontier NOW that would be fun

Well if what I read is true, they get better MPG then my Z does right now... I'm seriously thinking of selling my Z for a dependable truck.

SportBikeMike 10-19-2010 05:03 PM

Selling which Z?

260zturbo 10-19-2010 05:05 PM

Well not that low but its under 20MPG now and still dropping and I have NO idea why... And I only drive idk 5 miles a day at most, unless I'm going out to the next town over or SLC. Vernal is a pretty small town. That and ever sense I sold my only full sized truck I've wanted and needed another one.

I know, I'm not looking forward to it either. I don't think I'll get much if anything for my 280ZX, that 300ZXTT on the other hand will probably sell very fast. So unless someone gives me a good offer for my 280ZX I'll be keeping it.

I just really need a good, year round work vehicle that I can daily drive w/o worry.

SportBikeMike 10-19-2010 07:51 PM

I understand. You can always buy some more Zs in the future. They'll always be out there!

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 07:52 PM

Ya I know. Hey at lest I'm keeping with a Nissan!

SportBikeMike 10-19-2010 07:54 PM

Very true!:038:

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 07:56 PM

Course if I was rich I'd probably buy a Subi as a good sporty DD too lol

SportBikeMike 10-19-2010 08:05 PM

lol...not rich.....just no dependents!:102:

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 08:30 PM

ok lucky then lol Ah well.

theres a recall on this too, we put new fuel sending units in them all the time :012:

its covered tho.

Im a fan of the 5.7L but the truck itself it big for my taste, I have a 79 620 for a DD truck.

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 10:04 PM

I will admit it is a tad huge when compared to my old truck but Its not semitruck huge like I was expecting either. tho the dash and consoles seem kinda overkill large.

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 10:06 PM

Hey skib what all have you had to replace on the Titans? I dont think I can get anything over 08 for cheap so to earlier titans I guess.

skib 10-19-2010 10:18 PM

I dont recall what all of them are but we do the fuel sending units quiet a bit on them a few other models but there recall so you just have to bring it in and the dealer takes care of it.

I can look for the recall list for 08 and older tho
Ill be at work tomorrow.

and for the love of god, if you do a fuel sending unit recall make sure your gas tank is as empty as you can get it.
thos ****ers are HEAVY when some guy thinks its cool to bring it in with a full tank...

I don't care much for how big the feel, but they sure are comfortable to be a passenger in.

BlueKitsune 10-19-2010 10:47 PM

lol I know how you feel skib!

And yes they are very comfy, very comfy to drive too!

Right now I'm eying an 05 King Cab SE 4x4. looks to be pretty clean and in great shape. it was 53K miles and their asking $18K

2 main campains on it is the A/C condenser fan and the fuel sender.

they may or may not apply to that truck in particular,
to find out just call the dealer and give them the VIN and they will look it up.

BlueKitsune 10-20-2010 01:05 PM

Ah ok, thats not as bad as I had feared, I guess when you go to look ar reviews, 90% people only review a complaint.

Awesome, Now hopefully I get a job before it gets to damn cold around here.

over all its a good rig, my only complaint is how big it is but thats just my personal taste.

for the new trucks I prefer the Frontier in size.
