370Z, evo, WRX
which would you prefer if you were to buy a brand new 2009 sports car? any others right around 30,000?
dunno why i just got curious. just wondering what the preferred import sports car in the modern market is. |
well u also have the challenger and the new camaro. but i would personally have the 370.
yeah. 370's pretty nice. i'm not big on the interior though. it kinda looks like the dash is a little too in your face.
Definitely the 370Z....I don't consider the rest of them sports cars, they're more high-performance sedans. Sports car= 2 doors, 2 seats (usually).
Genesis FTW!!!!
WRX's sound like a bi plane with diarrhea
i might have to agree ^^^^ depends on how well stuff is developed for it, though it shares the 4b11 with the new SRT-4 and evo, its slightly modified and different setup around it (ecu and other BS for emmisions and stuff). the new evo is nice, but honestly, i'd rather have the older evo over it so thats eliminated, the WRX i'd take the older STI actually, the new one is ugly and lame, so 370Z based just on that. otherwise new camaro is sweet.... but i think the Z is a bit better. maybe less potential though.... just cause V-8's are so easy to modify. but also made typically shittier. i've been thinking about this for a while now, and its hard to decide. so far i think 370Z is at the top, but so close to the new camaro. i wish the genesis though was tuned better from the factory. i really do want a genesis turbo. since its a hyundai, i might be able to beg my grandparents for one haha. only cause my uncle is in the higher up corporate world of hyundai. aka their son and my moms bro.
and seriously... a bi-plane? they sound no different than any other plane with a horizontally opposed overhead valve airplane motor. typically a 4 cylinder. otherwise you can have a radial engine or a turbine. not much else is allowed to be an airplane motor. you fail. |
the WRX does sound pretty unique. sounds like a Z running on 5 cylinders to me. no matter though.
yeah, performance sedans is a good word for it. |
I fell in LOVE with the Genesis Coupe the first time I saw it.
But then I saw the curb weight is almost 3400 lbs. Then I came to my senses and realized that it's a freakin Hyundai. Sheesh, what was I thinking. You will pay almost 30k for the Track model, which is the only one worth a crap. Barely less than a 370Z. Not to mention the Genesis is slow as shit. V6 and turbo. WRX's sound like sex on the freaking beach. Evo's are ugly. It would be a close call between a WRX and a 370z for me. |
older evo or STI, they are actually pretty nice with a couple mods.
The Evos and Sti's are cool cars...but I'm not too crazy about the looks of either. Mediocre at best. They just look like generic sedans except with ground effects and spoilers. Lookswise, the Z has a huge advantage with true sports car styling.
hyundai has come along way and is becoming one of the best companies, don't doubt by name, this isn't highschool. also, the V6 is not really slow, but it is a full second slower in the 1/4mile than the 370Z (the V6) but the turbo one is the 4b11 which is a powerplant that will recieve ALOT of attention and once the you work around the retarded standard electronics it develops some damn good power, you will probably get alot more HP out of it than the 370Z dollar for dollar and more reliably. evo's are beautiful, WRX's are ugly. the one they had 2 generations ago are nice, and the OLD ones the 22b's or w/e they were are sexy. but every evo has looked great imho. and a sports car is not defined by the amount of doors it has.
looks don't really factor in for me. cars aren't about looks, they are about performance. lol there's no way i would include either the wrx or the evo in a poll if i cared about looks. if i were putting a vote in, it wouldn't be for the hyundai.
I'm just saying the Evo don't have the sleek sports car looks of a Z, Corvette or a Porsche. It looks like a Lancer with ground effects. The number of doors don't make a sports car....but how many 4-door Ferraris, Lambos, or Porsches have you ever seen? (and that Cayanne thing don't count....)

actually... maserati is ferrari and they make a 4 door, lambo and porsche are both coming out with 4 door sports CARS to. porsche actually just revealed theirs.

i'm not saying looks don't matter to buyers. just not to me. if that old ugly ass RWD corolla that people like to drift so much actually performed well, i'd like the hell out of it. granted, looks of the z are a bonus. but it's kinda like the girl that you meet that you really like. if she looks good, bonus. but you couldn't leave it just because she's ugly. well, if she's REALLY ugly you could, but not if she's just decent lol.
i guess we agree to disagree... i think any CAR (this excludes trucks and SUV's seeing as they are licensed/plated as a different vehicle class) thats built for performance is what makes a sports car so. doors break the genre down further into coupes and sedans. after that then it can be broken into seating arrangements, hatch backs, fast backs etc....
if its fast and handles good, then i would qualify it as a sports car, its like calling a TT z32 a luxury GT car.
there is a standard somewhere for the differences. i've been told once that by some standard, to be a muscle car, the car had to have 4 doors. which probably isn't true. but somewhere there is a standard that you could check that border on
If you bought a car based solely on performance, you would have a Lotus Elise.
