Hey Guys I Need To Find A Set Of 14 Inch Road Slicks For This Year. I Dont Even Care If There 50 Percent Used. Any Places I Can Find Such A Thing. All The Places Up Here Just Look At Me Like Im Crazy And Say They Cant Get Them Or Its Impossible, Even For New. If They Can Find Them There Like 250 A Piece. I Think Thats A Little Much.

14 inch slicks is a real odd size. You can get some very sticky competition compound tires in that size (Kumho, BFG, etc.). If you really want slicks - call Subie Sports in Huntington Beach CA. (714-847-1501) They handle Michelin rally tires - which makes a 14 inch slick - not cheap - but available.

Thats What I Thought, Not Cheap. What Are The "cheaper" Slicks, 15, Or 16, And What Wheels Will Be Affordable To Race With, Pass Tech And Match The "cheaper" Tire

If you're looking for used slicks - the place to go is a guy in wisconsin 262-740--0180.

I've purchased a couple sets from him. Hoosiers have been great - Yokohama more accurately described as Rockahama. They last forever but not very sticky.

We run 15's - but they have a better selection of 16's.

Steel wheels are heavy as hell - but cheap. Look for Diamond wheels in any roadrace magazine. You can order any size and offset you want.

Make sure you don't order a combination that will not fit the car!

The car is set up for F Prepared. It's completely stripped down to about 1900 lbs. The doors are just the skins - with cabinet hinges tack welded to the front fenders (saves weight). Of course the handles are also gone so we use hood pins to keep them closed.
They do need to open for safety reasons.

A turbo would put us into a different (more expensive) class and I doubt it would make us any faster. Our engine was built for low end torgue - which is what's needed for short/tight autocross courses.

Would Canada Have Similar Specs To The Usa, So If I Came Down I Could Race, Or Would The Tech Guys Send Me Packing.

I have no idea. You can get the SCCA Solo 2 rules online - just go the the SCCA website.

Compare them to whatever group you race with in Canada. Most groups have similar safety regulations - the only difference might be car classification. As long as the car is safe - they'll find a class that fits the car and you'll be able to run.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I was recently browsing their website, looking at their road race wheels in 10" widths. The 15x10 is listed at 18 lbs, and the 16x10 at 23 lbs.

As a comparison I tried to find out what Panasport's C8-16 modular wheels weighed in at, and couldn't find anything. Every site I found didn't have anything listed for the 16's, only the 13's. Panasport's own site doesn't look like it's been updated since 1995. Does anyone know what they weigh?

My C8 16x12's weigh 17 lbs. on a bathroom scale. I haven't checked them on a good scale.

I'm running 13x12 in the rear and they weigh about this much. The fronts are 13x10 and I think they are 12 lbs if I remember correctly. The diamonds are a decent option to start with.

I'm curious - why are you running 13 inch wheels?

Any problems getting them to fit over the brake and lower control arm?

The primiary reason was to get lower rotating weight. The second was to use a more advanced tire (Formula Atlantic). I run the hoosier C3000 kevlar belted tires. For autox and hillclimb I think these heat up quicker than the larger heaver tires most people use on these cars.

13s will not clear stock brakes and you have steering arm clearance issues, bumpsteer spacer issues, etc. It was a corner I painted myself into and if I were to do it again I would still use the FA tires but probably in the 15 inch size.

i've always played with the idea of running 13 inch wheels to reduce weight - but was concerned about getting them to fit.

We're currently running 15 x 9.5 wheels. Last season we managed to squeeze some 11x15 C-3000 Hoosiers on them. Prior to that we ran 9x15. The 11's called for a wider wheel but they seemed to work OK on the 9.5's.

We really like those tires - but not many people use them so they're not easy to find.

At least on the FA tires the right size wheel makes a big difference. I had to run a lot lower pressure when I did't have the wider wheels. I run 13x10 front and 13x12 rear. Now that prepared rules have been openned up I could run 13x14 rears if I still was running this car.

I chose the FA tires because of how easy it is to get them. One of the people that runs with me is using 16s and goodyear radials. On a hot day his car works well but he has problems getting them to heat up. He is switching this year to 15 inch atlantic tires and already found a couple sets.

I think you are still limited to 12 inch wide in F Prepared but unlimited in X Prepared.
