in the interest of not hijaking seraphics thread, i'll start a WoW thread here. i love that game, but dammit its addictive. which servers are you guys on? i'm on blackrock (aka lagrock). and sorry rizz, WoW pwns FFXI. all the other the FF games are the best games ever made, but as far as mmo's go WoW wins.

but my hard drive broke dammit, so i cant play right now

have you seen online where you can buy other peoples characters and items and gold? some of that stuff is going for almost 1000!!

Basically i think that WoW is mostly full of (insert mmo currency here)sellers that have migrated over from other games. EQ has 'em. FFXI has 'em. and WoW is just the newest thing out and that's where they've headed.
Did you know over 800 accounts were closed and permanently banned from ffxi because of currency selling, treasure manipulation, and character selling among other game violations? Why is it that you can buy a super character and not know how to use it? Why is it that you can purchase millions of your particular games currency online? Why is that when you need a particular item, weapon, armor, whatever, it seems like only a particular group of ppl have access to it or have control over the collection of said items? i could go on and on.
I think that as soon as the next "big mmorpg" comes out, those ppl will switch over and then you'll see your populations drop drastically. But that's just my opinion.

They're talking about World of Warcraft. (WOW). It's way too expensive to me, but supposedly it's fun. 50$ for the game, $20/month for service, then all the other crap! That equals a popcharger and an oil change!

FFXI is only @$30 for game including two expansion packs and $11.95/mo for first character. $1 extra a month if you want more than one character.

for WoW, you can get a 10 day free trial, then after you buy the game you get a month free and then its 19.95 each month after that, unless you get a bundle of months

right now i am wasting my paid month as my hard drive sits in a computer shop :(

youre paying too much then. i pay like 14.99 a month, at the month to month rate.

Holy crap this is like my home online, Im a sucker for MMORPGs, but too cheap to be spending money monthly, so I stick to Knight Online, (i'm a fan of the FF and Warcraft series too, just havent the time nor money to buy em) so mainly I stick to KO and Halo(1) I'm pretty cheap w/ my games. Seems like my Z is worse than a gf, its just takes all my money and I'm not getting laid.....

just for kicks, what kind of hardware are you guys running? i have an amd athlon 64 3500+ on an asus a8n sli deluxe mobo, with a gig of dual channel ddr, a WD 120gb SATA HD, and a ge force fx5500 (just a placeholder till i can afford an SLI setup). the fx5500 was cheap, so i oc'd it as much as it would go, i dont care if it burns up, cause as soon as my GI bill kicks in, i'm going SLI!!!! i just built this comp about a week and a half ago, and i love it. for the last 2 years, due to the fact that i had nowhere to put a desktop while in the navy, i've been on a toshiba laptop with a 2.2 celeron and 512mb ram, and, ugh, integrated graphics. this is my first system build, and i can hardly believe how fast it is.

How much did all that cost you?

I play on my Playstation2 that cost me $50 new(after some tradeins :D) and $100dollars for HDD and game. My graphics may not be as good as the PC players but gameplay is the same and that's all that matters to me.
Oh, FFXI coming to xbox360 with new and improved graphics, equal to if not better than PC.
