My Duc hates me....

This morning it left me stranded for the third time in five months. I was on the interstate on my way to the pet store to help the shelter with an adoption....and suddenly NO POWER. Coasted to the side of the road and the bike would crank like it wanted to start but wouldn't turn over.:075:

The same exact thing happened two other times. Once back in May two blocks from my house and again last month in Perre Marquette national park down by St.Louis (my brother had to drive 140 miles with his trailer to pick me up). The first time the d'ship said it was a fuel hose.....the second time they said it was a fuel filter.:017: I personally think it's electrical (the bike had a recall for a regulator back in February and hasn't been the same since...).

All I know is I'm through with this bike. Might get an MV Agusta F4....or just give up bikes all together and concentrate on the Zs......

ahhh the duc woes. knew it was only a matter of time. they are great bikes but reliability, ha! nothing like a jap bike in that department. MV would be very cool though. V4 right? hmmmmm hmmmm.....

I think they're in-line 4? Yeah I almost bought one last month....IMO the only bike that can compare to the Duc looks-wise. But then again they're Italian....so not sure about the reliability.:paranoid:

you are right, inline... hmmm...

Would you believe a guy on the Ducati site just said he might be interested in trading his MV even up for my bike? I told him I hope he is a mechanic....:075:

snwbrderphat540 10-24-2009 06:25 PM

ha weird... lucky you? maybe he meant after it saw the dealership

SportBikeMike 10-24-2009 06:39 PM

Here's the bike he wants to trade me for the 1098:

Its an '05 F4 1000S but only has 2700 miles. All stock except for some appearance stuff (HD leadlights, tail eliminator).

Yeah he said he wanted to check with his mechanic about the Duc's issues before making the trade.

snwbrderphat540 10-24-2009 07:03 PM

now you can ride around like bruce wayne haha

SportBikeMike 10-24-2009 07:36 PM

Sweets 10-24-2009 08:09 PM

Trade for the FD instead...

That bike is sick.

SportBikeMike 10-24-2009 09:06 PM

Oh OK, I thought he was talking about bikes.:102:

And I'll pass on the RX-7....already have too many cars...

hoov100 10-25-2009 08:01 PM

All I've had to do on my R1, is change the oil and tires, never had a problem or hiccup to date! You should just switch to a yamaha and make your life easier and cheaper.

SportBikeMike 10-25-2009 08:21 PM

My previous bike was an '04 R1 and I had zero problems in over 3 years of ownership. But the Duc was totally reliable the first 1 1/2 years I had it too....until I took it in for a voltage regulator recall last February and it hasn't been the same since. I don't blame Ducati....I blame the dealership, they obviously screwed up something.

snwbrderphat540 10-25-2009 10:59 PM

seems like ALOT of people have recuring problems with ducs after going into the dealership. everything is going fine till the one problem it does have or one time it needs something done then after that it seems to be a frequent thing i noticed.... so i DO blame ducati... that or every tech in the USA duc squadron is a complete retard....

It's easy, all i have to do is look at my bike and it will remind me that my bike will actually be ridden the way it was designed to be ridden!

SportBikeMike 10-28-2009 08:19 AM

Do you take it to a track?

No way you can ride a 1000cc sportbike on the streets the way it was meant to be ridden and live to tell about it...

It's been to the tracks, it's been through ice, snow, hail, monsoons, extremely high winds, rain, thunder storms, sand storms, city traffic. All sorts of crap. theirs a couple mountains by here that have some damn good roads.

SportBikeMike 10-28-2009 12:27 PM

Once again the stealership said the problem is a fuel hose came loose!

Heres a quick chronological review:

8/07- 1/09 Bike has ZERO problems

2/09 Bike is recalled for a voltage regulator.

5/09 Bike stalls. D'ship says its fuel hose.

9/09 Bike stalls. D'ship says its a clogged fuel filter.

10/09 Bike stalls. D'ship says its a fuel hose.

Am I losing my freakin mind here????!!!!!

Niku-Sama 10-28-2009 01:59 PM

tell them ever since they did the recall its been crap. make a fuss about it if you have too

I've told them I thought it was electrical and I've only had problems since the recall.....and it goes in one ear and out the other. I'm getting ready to take it to another mechanic to get a second opinion.
