Just bought a Ducati 1098!

Just put a down payment for an '08 Ducati 1098.:007: Red of course!!!:icon_super:

Been riding 12 years....all I've had is 4 cylinder Japanese sportbikes...great bikes all, but wanted to try something different like a V-twin. It'll be nice to actually have some torque down low!!!

Should get the bike in 2-4 weeks. I'll post up pics.

Hey snw (or anyone alse), wanna buy my R1??

snwbrderphat540 07-14-2007 01:54 PM

ill borrow it!!!! lol. i got 2500 dollars. sooooooo.... yeah.

SportBikeMike 07-14-2007 02:06 PM

Just borrow for the other $5,000...

Your problem would be insurance...I bet it would be outragious for a 19 YO. You might want to wait until you turn 25 to get the open-classer...

Murph Z32 07-14-2007 02:11 PM

Sweet. Can't wait for the pics.

NismoPick 07-14-2007 04:20 PM

Pics! Pics! PICZZZZZZZ!!! Where they is? I love Ducati. Show us a pic of what it looks like anyway...

SportBikeMike 07-14-2007 04:27 PM

Sweet Bike...no where near practical for every day riding but a sweet bike none the less.

snwbrderphat540 07-14-2007 11:42 PM

i think any bike is practical.... as far as bikes go for being practical. and yeah R1 would blow my nuts off on insurance :( lol. and i was hoping it would have the cool dual stacked ducatti headlights, but i forgot they dropped those :(

Goofyz 07-15-2007 01:12 PM

Nice Bike

Personally, I can't wait till Triumph comes out with a triple in the open class, the 675 they got is pretty sweet against the others in the 600cc class. But until then i'll just envy your torque machine.

That Duc will be difficult to keep on two wheels as it has a tendency to point straight up with liberal stabs at the throttle.:icon_pray:

Skully 07-15-2007 03:25 PM

ahhh the Ferrari of motorcycles...man they are sweet have fun!!!

snwbrderphat540 07-15-2007 04:31 PM

new deal, ill give you 2000k and 3 years of free labor on your car. lol, you need parts installed im your man :D now if only you didnt live 4 hours south of me

SportBikeMike 07-15-2007 08:41 PM

Snw you'll give me 2000K....you mean $2,000,000???? OK deal!!

j/k man I know what you mean

SportBikeMike 07-15-2007 08:47 PM

Yeah I'm really looking forward to getting this bike. I love my R1 but it has a total race-oriented power band where the real power don't start until 9000 rpm's and has relatively weak low and mid-range torque. This can be a great fun....but is not really ideal on the street. The Duc has tons of low end torque and alot of torque all the way thru the rev range...this will be a nice change of pace to what I'm used to. My R1 is no slouch in the looks department either...but the Ducati is even sexier IMO...

snwbrderphat540 07-15-2007 08:53 PM

what kind of account rides a bike anyways. pfft. lucky bastard, you accountants and your steady income. my aunt is an account as well but for like a major firm, she and my uncle are in there like early/mid 30's with 2 kids and a house bigger than mine already, and her parents were rich as balls to begin with.

A "cool" accountant lol! Yeah I have an accounting degree but I'm actually a sales tax auditor for the State....

I hop out of an 18 wheeler onto 2 wheels...its a bit of a change lol...

yeah i know what you mean about high revv power band...but i still think yammy's are sxiest out there hehe...Im wanting to go to the track end on this summer before the winter comes to screw around for a bit.

snwbrderphat540 07-16-2007 02:08 AM

i fyou go to the track wear full gear as im more than sure you know. but padded gear full jacket with back brace pants boots and helmet. my buddy slid his bike out doing 80 and almost died. now he takes vikidin just to get in the shower.

You like that? Ducati switched back to the Tamburini-style body work because Ducati fans around the world lambasted Ducati for letting Terblanche ruin it. IMO, the 999 looked hideous. The 1098 looks gorgeous. Congrats.

I hear ya. I had an '06 Speed Triple, but even with the K&N filter, Arrow pipes and a PCIII it was seriously lacking in top end. The low end was great, but the lack of top-end and fairings limited the comfortable max speed to around 80mph. I only had it for 6 months and traded it in for my Z. I wanted the Daytona, but didn't like the old motor. If they come out with a 1050 Daytona, I might have to trade in the ZX-9R.

snwbrderphat540 07-16-2007 05:15 PM

i thought it was original more or less, i like this style better yes, but i enjoyed the originality, i used to HATE i mean HATE those headlights but some how they grew on me.

SportBikeMike 07-16-2007 05:28 PM

I love Triumphs! I like the Speed Triple and the 675. If they had an open classer available it would have made it a tough choice between that and the 1098. Ideally, I would like to have one Euro twin cyl. and one Japanese 4-cyl sportbike. Can't really afford it right now.....

Yeah the 999 was a highly controversial design and highly criticized which is a main reason they went back to more of a 916-like design...which is fine by me.

Skully 07-20-2007 10:20 PM

you got any pix of the r1?

SportBikeMike 07-21-2007 08:13 AM

No not yet. The guy at the d'ship told me last Friday it could be 30 more days....hopefully sooner.

Yeah I've had a couple R6s ('00 & '03) and they're great bikes...
