I'm beat

I'm just going to say, I have a 2 week deadline to get my turbo in my 2+2 and I took out the L26 today. I could NOT get the driveshaft out but it came out (tranny side) when I took the engine/tranny combo.

I have NO idea how i'm going to get the engine in. Any recent tips on how to? I have like a billion manuals and have read them and they all have about 2 setences on lifting the engine. "connect chains to engine sling and hoist engine out." or "installation is reverse of removal" OH REALLY!?!?!?!?!

well i'm off to work, even though i'm incredibly tired....

You swapping out the tranny too? If not I woulda left that in the car. As for the swap its pretty straight forward. Put in tranny. Put in Engine, do up all the bellhousing bolts, do the motor mounts. Starter, Altenator and the wiring. If you find my swap thread, there is plenty of info on how to do the wiring. Or if you wanna fly me out, I`ll help you for free, just to get outa here for awhile.

i don't see your problem. so the new engine doesn't have lifting points? if it doesn't, just put the ones from your old engine on. then it really is just a reverse of the removal

since you got all that junk out are you gonna clean up the bay some?

if so turtle wax's bug and tar remover works really well on that funky black stuff thats caked on to everything but it takes it a while it has to soak in but it doesent hurt paint and i dont think it hurts rubber

oh and before i forget, when your using a cherry picker like that its best not to have you hand up top where it is, if the piston loses pressure suddenly it gets messy....trust me

yeah im kinda missing the problem to.... lol. re exxplain your ordeal cause its just a straight swap only project part about it is installing the ECU and its EFI harness. which is easy anyways. i talked mch-whats his face through his seriously just swap alternators or do the external regulator eliminator and then it uses the same engine wire harness connections (starter alternator oil pressure sender etc) it should all bolt in if the turbo motor is a manual 5speed using the borg warner you got a problem unless the turbo car was a 2+2 as well but you need the tranny mount then from the turbo car and the driveshaft that fits the borg warner and is the right length but thats all straight bolt in so is the engine and then boom its all together and will crank and everything. then cut a 1 and something inch diameter int he fir wall get a rubber gromet for it push the EFI harness through from the S130 (which you have to remove but should be very easy) then plug in all the sensors injectors cas etc again plug in the ecu then make the 5 or 6 appropriate splices. its VERY easy...

yea you got it out, so if you did any labeling at all of where hoses and crap go, you shouldn't have any problem getting it back together

Okay, here's the post of a lifetime. I didn't label anything but i've read and re-read this sticky by someone on how to swap the harness. The harness isn't the problem it's all the little things, and i'll show you what i mean...

That's everything I have.

Okay these plug into the ECU. it's an '83 harness.

I don't know what these plug into...

here's a closer view of them.

Fuel injectors and new harnesses.

AFM, and a couple of things?

Maybe a light?

Lights?

Closer look...On the '74 the bulb plugs are rounded...

And more lights...

Now here's where it hurts.

?????

What??? where?!?

I don't know...

And here's what my manifold looks like,

I'll figure out the vaccuums, etc later on.

how about manifold stuff? I just decided that I have to have the engine in the car and able to turn on by august 8th or i have to sell it. :-/ I can't store it where I live while i'm at college because we have to move in january, and that means i lose my storing facility for my car unless i can drive it to Ililinois in the middle of this month.

the brown one isnt a plug necessarily.. its for the EFI relay you NEED that.... go find your relay thats what it is forgot to say leave that connected in the PM as well lol!

ok looking at those pics again you have WAY to many harnesses... see the oned with the ECU plugs on it, thats the ONLY one you need. from what i can see so far. you need the turbo coil and ignitor chip and the harness that plugs into the ignitor chip and then where does the other end of that go? idk if you dont know either no big deal you can always make your own like me like i said in the PM its only 2 wires one a switched power the other to one of the ecu spare plug wires. no big. wow... this is hard to make a decision about though as to where your RELAY is.... dude just tow your **** to IL with you and we will have this figured out and running in a couple days just put in the drivetrain.

oh and btw your coming here to school right? and your family is moving here as well in january as well is that what im getting from what you said? got a truck in the family, rent a u-haul trailer because you can just drop them off at one of the facilities here and they just keep it, they swap like that so you dont have to return it. or for abot 700 you can ship it through DAS to here. im telling you man, just bring it.
