i splurged all over the dealership sales lady today...

yep, my days of working on a project car are over for me, im gonna tarp my z31 and stuff it into the corner for a while, just put a deposit down on a new 07 bike, not gonna say what it is until i get it home, i will give two hints, its all black, its 1k CC's and its a little hurting on the wrists for long periods. (mike dont tell them) but anywho my 92 needs a head job and my 87 needs a rebuild, so i figured i might as well...

snwbrderphat540 09-01-2007 11:34 PM

sounds like a raven.

Goofyz 09-02-2007 09:30 AM

Raven????

is that like an SR-71?

snwbrderphat540 09-02-2007 10:23 AM

its a yamaha R1 but special edition bike.

sr-71 is the lockhead black bird

hoov100 09-02-2007 10:43 AM

hmmm 20 valves, ITB's i might even get ballsy and put some spare turbo parts to use...

Goofyz 09-02-2007 12:24 PM

yeah

well, i figured it was a CBR 1000 blackbird, hence the Raven reference, and the sr-71 reference but I guess not.

Nice purchase! The riding position is actually not too bad on the R1. The Ducati puts alot more pressure on the wrists.

hoov100 09-02-2007 03:54 PM

i did test ride a 1098s before the R1, but it all came down to parts availability, the aprilia's are on an order basis only, the only ducati dealer is over 100 miles away, plus their is going to be some big aftermarket for the new R1.

SportBikeMike 09-02-2007 04:48 PM

Yeah I'm lucky that I live in the only town in downstate IL that has a Ducati dealership. I'm taking mine in Tuesday to have the full Termi exhaust installed.

hoov100 09-02-2007 04:55 PM

exhaust is on the list of things to do when i get it, its going frame sliders, levers, rear set, fender eliminator, power commander, exhaust..

SportBikeMike 09-02-2007 05:53 PM

Are you going full exhaust or slip-ons? My R1 had Two Brothers carbon fiber slip-ons....sounded pretty cool. If you can afford full exhaust, I'd go that way though...

hoov100 09-02-2007 06:13 PM

im making my own header and im using a custom made 4-2 2.5-2" x-pipe with the two brothers slip on's.

Goofyz 09-02-2007 10:06 PM

Is the stock hp/torque not enough?

or is it just the sound you guys are going after?

I'm betting neither of you can fully take advantage of what either of those bikes can do stock, that's why I question the attempts to increase performance.

We are talking about about 1:3.3 - hp : pound power to weight ratio (175lbs rider 360lbs bike) The Bugatti Veryon and Hennesy Viper are about that.

snwbrderphat540 09-02-2007 11:18 PM

full exhuasts make bikes sound so sick, i love the smell of bikes to, mike, you have to get a video/sound clip of the duc when you get it back with the exhaust.

SportBikeMike 09-03-2007 12:51 AM

Snw, here's a video of a 1098 w/ the full Termi exhaust. This definitely influenced my decision to get the full exhaust.

Its the extra power, better sound...and looks. The stock power is more than adequate.....but more power is even better!

Murph Z32 09-03-2007 01:19 AM

nice. I'll trade you for my ducati

snwbrderphat540 09-03-2007 09:36 AM

thats actually a pretty damn good jump in HP and with the low wieght of bikes you should really be able to feel that, but he also had a performance ECU....

The full exhaust system includes the dedicated ECU and the air filter.

hoov100 09-03-2007 11:47 AM

being able to pull a wheelie at 160 by just giving it a little more gas is the kind of power i want, i will probably never get it, but i want it..

hoov100 09-07-2007 10:45 PM

alright, tomorrow decides my fate on which vehicle i do end up getting..

hoov100 09-08-2007 09:42 PM
