also if you guys know of one for under $2oo tellz mez bouts it....:006:

oh and dont forget to post pics of your own cute little welders...:58:

That welder is a piece of shit. Trust me on that. Get something adjustable. You know with knobs for WFS and Voltage. None of this min-max switch bs. Also unless you plan on spending a pretty good chunk of change on the gas to run it, get something that lets you change your lead polarity. Gasless wire runs better on neg. spend the extra money get something nice.

I got one almost identical to that.

x2. Argon/CO2 MIG FTW!

CanyonCarver 07-16-2008 06:39 AM

I normally would have considered that to be a piece of shit myself, but, one identical to that worked very well in a pinch. We were at a racetrack over 300 miles from home when we had some tube breakage. We went to a local tool supply place and picked one of these up and it performed flawlessly. I wouldn't recommend it for any kind of regular use, but for the price, it's definitely something you can learn with and use on small jobs.

I have a miller econotig and a 175 wire feed

I'm not a welder, but I've never heard anything but negative comments about Harbor Freight welders.

iv never realy heard anything positive about harbor freight tools period but there cheap as hell !!! :D

edit: wow that econotig was about $2000....

i think ill just get this POS one and try to learn with it

260zturbo 07-16-2008 10:58 AM

u thinks thats expensive. try buying a pulse welder for alum. it would make u cry if u knew how much they are. if u want something to learn on go to homedepot and get urself a lincoln flux wire 110w. its not the greatest but its easy and cheap. u can fork over more and get one that does flux or gas. search if u dont know what flux welding wire is. im on my blackjack II so im tired of typing already.

Welding with a POS will give you POS results. Quit being cheap. :075: $250-$500 will get you a nice gas mig.

Bleach 07-16-2008 12:35 PM

my engine stand and engine lift from Harbor Freight are great. They have other tools which work fine.

Mhinrichs 07-16-2008 02:20 PM

Well I am a welder, and harbor freight is pos. Spend the extra money. The results and satisfaction you get will be worth the money. Hit up craigslist find a nice mig machine that can handle argon. (all good mig can handle flux.) Its easier to lear with the argon mix and the welds look better. I can give you as much advice as I can online when you need it. Until then, don`t cheap out.

Also, I gave in and got certified for B decking today. Pay Raise! I hate B decking its so freaking boring.

CanyonCarver 07-16-2008 05:43 PM

The welders on ebay, under seller IOS, Indiana Oxygen Supply, are quite competitively priced when you consider free shipping and no sales tax. That is if they still offer those terms. That is for Miller, Lincoln and Hobart brands

280zx2by2 07-16-2008 08:31 PM

ill have to save up again but im thinking $300 is gonna be the limit on this buy and i will check out craigslist but i dont like ebay

and i get most of my tools at harbor freight(besides stuff i have to use alot like wrences and sockets) and all those little sales they have are awesome!!!

EDIT: no welders on craigslist :(

duowing 07-16-2008 11:40 PM

I'm gonna take my Uncle's advice. He also said you could go to Sears and get a pretty good gas mig setup for like $500. Even though I'm new to welding, might as well go with something good that will last, and as I get better I'll already have the good welder.

280zx2by2 07-17-2008 07:53 AM

i didnt think about sears they usually have good quality for a little cheaper price....
