i was wondering with gas price keep going up. what are z members doing. Meaning are you using premium still or something else.

KENZ 08-21-2005 08:18 PM

no matter what im putting premium. and even at 3.25 a gallon right now on maui..

it doesnt bother me much, i only drive her to work round trip for about 3 miles.

Riz Z Speed 08-21-2005 08:52 PM

Moved to Off Topic.

I don't drive much either so i'm not worried about gas prices.
Don't get me wrong i still think it sucks but nothing i can do about it.

bardabe 08-21-2005 09:11 PM

well for mew it's 16 miles to school and liek 24 back. so it;s a total of about 40 miles a day for me. and at 2.89 for premium this really sucks. specially when i hit high boost status.

CanyonCarver 08-22-2005 06:51 AM

I filled up yesterday at $2.999 / gallon, then went on a Z cruise to the beach and then up and down some canyon roads. I'll have to fill up again today on my way home from work. It's approaching $40 per fill up................

I guess it's kinda gotten to the point where it doesn't matter what we do. Complaining about it doesn't get us anywhere. Chevron continues to report record earnings per share. The rich get richer while the poor, well you know the rest. Either we pay for it or we don't drive. Option 2 isn't part of my personal equation. I don't really consider this an option either....buy an Echo or an Insight.

Premium is a requirement in these cars. If you're not going to put premium in it, then you might as well buy a Civic because they'll perform about the same. Until you blow up the motor, then the Civic will run better.

What really doesn't make sense is the price of Diesel. Truck drivers are really the ones who are getting raped. It wasn't all that long ago that diesel was less expensive than 87 octane.

007max 08-22-2005 11:13 PM

i work as a delivery driver so i have to fill up once every 2 to 3 days

the rest of you guys can stop complaining now

RPS13_GZ32 08-23-2005 01:46 AM

2.89 and still pumping premium.....its enough to keep my driving down considerably.

91 your probably to young to remember a "T" shirt that had "Eat The Rich" on it nice skull and cross bones. It was sold thru "High Times" magazine. Probably still have some old issues of it somewhere. Sent a couple old copies to the "KBI" office in Great Bend Kansas. The girl over the cannabis lab said she'd heard of that magazine but hadn't ever seen one. She was pretty young. Interesting place to go thru, I can because we own the office complex they are housed in. At least till 09 and they take it over.
Diesel was once a by-product, until someone found a use for it. When we were still running trucks, it was like 92 cents a gallon. We bought it in 6,000 gallon lots. Got out of trucks in 97.

CanyonCarver 08-23-2005 12:27 PM

So what were gas prices at certain points in your lives? (milestones)

For me,

First awareness, ...........1972.....$.23 / gallon
First job pumping gas.....1974.....$.55 / gallon
Got my license...............1976.....$.72 / gallon
first house.....................1983.....$1.20 / gallon
second house................1990......$1.05 / gallon
kid #1 goes to college....2001......$1.60 / gallon

I like the Aerosmith song 'Eat the Rich'. Does that count for anything? :D

I think I am too young. That makes me feel better since I'll be hitting 29 in less than 2 months. ****Off topic warning**** I went for a jog today with my puppy for the 1st time in a long time for me. It was a short jog. I think he was bored. He was probably thinking, "Fatass,...why didn't you just drive?" I gotta get back into shape. Round/bowling pin/pear aren't the shapes that I've been accustomed to in the past. Oh well. Life's a bitch, so grab a beer and don't bother complaining to anyone since they're not listening anyways.

280anniversary 08-23-2005 11:11 PM

over here at orange county supreme gas cost $2.93 haha i pay full tank $48-$50 i feel like im getting jacked :(

tnkrstoyco 08-24-2005 05:41 AM

Regular dropped 2 cents this morning to 2.52/9. Last week it was 2.59/9.

Yeah 91 that counts for something, just 29 your a young pup too..

bardabe 08-24-2005 08:27 AM

well. here in southern california. we have been getting emails. and PM all over the place. that on September 3rd to not pump gas at all. there are so many people pumping gas out there everyday, that with one say that no one pumps gas the gas prices will dramatically decrease. so I'm gonna follow this the entire week. please pass it on and let's see what happens? shall we?

ahh I remember more recently Christmas of 2001 I was filling up @ $0.98/gal.

Our premium is 2.68 now...

Skully 08-24-2005 09:17 PM

when i came to canada it was around .50 cents a liter....now 8 years later...its 1.05 and ive heard its jumping to 1.15 a liter....sheesh the wages didnt go that much up...

My FairLady Z32 08-24-2005 09:45 PM

If if makes anyone feel better here's a good way to rationalize your high oct. cost. Where I live at least, premium is always .15 -.20 cents more a gallon then regular. So at $3 your only paying 4% more than the Civic's, but back in the glory days of $1 gallons, we were paying about 20% more for premium. So, were getting ripped off less now, then our four banger freinds are.

My Fairlady Z 08-25-2005 12:01 AM

Mm, yeah, your name doesn't look familiar at alll...

some people just arent creative.

WildmaN 08-25-2005 03:45 AM

I remember in '98 when it was $.86 a gallon. It cost me like less than $15 to fill my Firebird! :p Oh that was great. No if I filled her now, it would cost me over $40!! That is mainly why she sits in my driveway collecting dust!

tnkrstoyco 08-25-2005 06:25 AM

Saw the news this morning and they are putting a cap on wholesale gas prices in Hawaii.

My FairLady Z32 08-25-2005 07:37 AM

I just picked a name to match my plates. Like you did, I'm sure. Anyway I'll see if I can change and be more "CREATIVE".

My Fairlady Z 08-26-2005 11:06 PM

Yeah, umm, I think that is too many letters for a plate..

My FairLady Z32 08-27-2005 05:11 AM

I kind of like the name. I think I'll keep it. For a forum about gas prices. Can't you find something other than my user name to talk about? Of course, it's abbreviated D.S.
