superchargers are supposed to be much more reliable than turbos...but they rob way to much power cause they run off the motors power, and the more boost you want with them...the more they have to work. but since turbos utalize exhaust power they take there sweet ass tiem to spoll up most of the time, but hardly rob any power....even though i know most of you knew that...just saying supercharger reliable but inefficient...turbos less reliable but damn efficient.

you could actually leave both, they used to do that on older diesel engines, and i belive some gas engines, it just really isnt worth it, but then you kinda get both kinds of power, low end to mid torque, and high end hp.

both has proven to be pointless cuase you still have the supercharger engaged and robbing power...i though though of a way to make the design work so you get off the line power and then more top end...its basically a vortech style super cahger (the ones that look like tubos) that have a turbo set up on it as well..so a turbine housing contnected to the exhaust and the pully part attatched to the belts, but the pully part is like a bicycle wheel set up so that you peddl at a certain speed but once you start tolling faster teh pedals no longer work....so basically the supercharger function works until the exhaust gas builds up enough spool and over takes the supercharger section freeing up more power....

if that makes sense...its hard to explain but i have a picture of it in my head and it seems like it would work. lol

you mean it'd work like a fan clutch....i thikn the bigger issue would not be robbing power by having a belt driven FI system, but the high temperature intake charge that would result. You'd have to have quite a cooling system to take care of this. double ICs???

well in its case (the ford GT) it had a small liquid cooling option, which would work crap in an application liek that cuase you dont have to make a crazy pipe line for the intak/intercooler.
