computer idea

alright so i am probally going to do a valve cover gasket soon and i'll be taking the blower motor thing off my car for the injectors....you know....that thing that never turns on!

well i was thinking of using it to cool my computer as i bulid my own and overclock the piss out of ever one of them i have ever owned.
i would imagine a electric blower motor like that would move some good ammount of air.

what do you guys think?

dumb!

You get an E+ for effort. :D

saw an idiot put his comp in a freezer. couldn't be much worse. just take pics.

innovative idea though.

Just go get a fan made for computers. Mine pushes 2500cfm. I run 2.0ghz on a 200mhz cycle. 400mhz fsb. Mine stays nice and cool. I`ll get a pic for you.

Edit: I need to clean in there too.

Sorry kids... but fans are teh ghey now. These days it's all about liquid nitrogen cooling...

sit on that!

Mhinrichs Feb 21, 2008 11:05 AM

Thats insane 5.2ghz...... I gotta try this.

not an efficent idea. If youre going to use extra air to cool your computer, use a recently designed electric computer fan, not an old engine fan from 1982....

or just buy a portable AC unit. Open up the side of your computer and aim the old air in there. Simple

Can I use my 280zx air dam to guide the air into the computer?

yes. And a better idea would be to mount the bare motherboard in your 280ZX in front of the radiator. While you drive, cold air will cool the processor and the radiator fan will help draw heat away from the board. :048:

NismoPick Feb 21, 2008 02:15 PM

^^^ That's an even better idea! I was just going to take off the air dam and set it on the floor in front of my computer. :D

1979 thank you...

either way i have exhausted all the computer fans, A/C unit would be less efficient considering the ammount of power it uses. blower fan = 12V computer = 12V.
i could also run the blower off of a seperate power supply, i have an old AT power supply thats about 125 watts or less, would be more than enough
pfft 5 ghz on liquid nitro, i am more than half way there on air.

NismoPick Feb 21, 2008 05:00 PM

I think the car fan will draw more amps than what the computer power box can supply. :D Volts aren't the only important part of electricity.

Niku-Sama Feb 21, 2008 05:02 PM

nah it'll be fine

JPerkins Feb 21, 2008 05:30 PM

If you're dead set on it, then go for it, but the aux cooling fan for the injector rail is not one of the automotive components that i would use on my computer. Maybe an electric radiator cooling fan. that way you can use your computer tower like a box fan too.

Niku-Sama Feb 22, 2008 11:19 PM

except it would be blowing the wrong way

i just read this again, there is NO way that tiny little orange fan is pushing 2500 CFM. that would serisouly be blowing your case to peices.
