Carfax fraud!
 

Guys, listen to this: I had a lot of difficulties selling my car because of the inaccurate information that CARFAX provided. The report said that the vehicle had two owners, but actually I was the only person who owned this car. Moreover, they showed that the vehicle had been in two accidents, which isn't true either. It has only been in an accident once but still was drivable, and CARFAX described it as "Towed from scene" for some reason! Needless to say that these two facts devalued the car and it was really hard for me to sell it. CARFAX should be more responsible for the information it provides in their reports, instead of putting any information they want, which, apart from being incorrect, causes troubles for other people!

Thanks for the post. I have used Carfax maybe 20 or 30 times and never had a problem. I think what happened in your case was somebody entered your VIN by mistake for a different car in an accident. Since Carfax is just a record keeper they probably don't have access to the original reports. So, apart from your word, they don't have much evidence.

Sounds like your car was sold so your problem is over. I guess I would have contacted Carfax when I saw the error and asked them to look up the date and location of the bogus accident. If you could prove your car was not there at the time, they would probably change their report. So many scams going on for flood cars and swapped VINS these days that they are probably used to the heat by now. Their price ain't cheap either so they ought to stand behind their accuracy.

It's not only my word. Plus, from what I found on the web, they don't really stand for accuracy
