bench testing a turbo?

is bench testing a turbo using shop air bad? i didnt get it to spooling speed and only did it for about 2 minutes, that and there was plenty of oil in it.

ummm???? theres no point in it, just try to wiggle the shaft if there is no play spin the blades if they rotate freely and dont meet any spots that feel like they are being grinded or pushed against anything (basically resistance) you to a good turbo. and doing what you did isnt neccessarily bad im sure unless it went hella fast and how could there be oil in the turbo if its bench tested?

pressurize the oil inlet filled with oil..

I can't see where it would hurt as long as there is oil pressure and you don't spin it very long. I don't know what you'd achieve by doing it tho. Generally, it either spins or it doesn't. :)
