SportBikeMike 03-20-2007 07:06 PM

Yeah I have no idea right now how to jack-up the 350Z from the side with those skirts on there....hope I don't get a flat tire anytime soon:paranoid:

Since the Z is a long term keeper, I invested the couple o' bucks for one of those Fumoto oil drain valves. Makes everything quicker, easier, and cleaner. ^_~

snwbrderphat540 03-21-2007 11:18 AM

they make floor jacks especially for lowered cars though also.

I have one...it's much easier to jack the car up now. The wife got it for me at Costco.

hoov100 03-21-2007 08:58 PM

I got mine at Black Dragon Auto (formerly known as Victoria British) for like $20 or so.

SportBikeMike 03-29-2007 08:23 AM

Well, a couple recent experiences has verified what you guys have been saying:

1) I checked the oil level on the SRT-4 I just traded in, a couple weeks ago and it was like a quart and a half low. The car doesn't burn oil nor does it leak any oil....in other words, the idiots at the oil change place didn't fill the oil up all the way. On top of that, they charged me a $30 surcharge for Mobil1 synthetic, then the dumbasses don't even put all the oil in. Nice. I think this might have contributed to the cars recent overheating problems.

2) My 350Z is now leaking oil. I've NEVER had any problems with this car before....until I took it to the d'ship to get the suspension kit installed and told them to go ahead change the oil while they're at it. Well, they apparently screwed that up....I haven't diagnosed the problem yet but I bet it has to do with plug, washer, or filter not being installed correctly. Jesus, how do you screw up a damn oil change?!!

Nobody is ever changing the oil on any of my vehicles ever again...except for me. Lesson learned....

i8acobra 03-29-2007 10:57 AM

Changed the oil in the ZX-9 yesterday. Did the Z about 15 minutes ago. :)

snwbrderphat540 03-29-2007 02:00 PM

mmmmm...... motorcycle...... i need to get me one this summer, start saving some money plus the money i got already get a used one through private sales and what not, i want R6 damnit!

SportBikeMike 03-29-2007 02:13 PM

Just buy a new one! If you buy it thru Yamaha, you have very low payments for the 1st two years. Heck my payment for my R1 was only $105 (but I always paid $100-$200 extra principle so I wouldn't get hammered after 2 years). Alot of guys don't keep a bike for 2 years anyways. I assume they still have these deals. Check it out...

snwbrderphat540 03-29-2007 02:48 PM

mmmmmm..... my credit aint that awesome lol.

They still got deals, but the full coverage insurance will kill you. I got 50/100/50 liability insurance on my 9 for $278/yr. They wanted about $200/mo. for full coverage and it's a 7 year old bike. Also, I'm 33 and no accidents.

bardabe 03-29-2007 04:35 PM

I have to go on a 1X3, on to a 2X4, on to a 4X6. .... andTHEN I can get the jack under the car. I't;s a roush racing aluminum low profile jack. ha ha HKS Springs are so damn low. but yeah I do all my own work. no shop will ever touch my car unless its a frame shop.

SportBikeMike 03-29-2007 09:10 PM

Well, got the oil changed on the 350Z. Bought Rhino ramps and had no problem getting the car up there even with the lowered suspension and front spoiler. Pretty easy job really, once you get that panel off. Even gave her the purple stuff :038:

i got a jiffy lube story for yah all!

its my friend he is the assistant manager there now or w.e that title is. well on a newer nissan altima he was working on and the dipstick was all ****ed up so when he stuck it back in the stick broke off the handle and fell into the oil pan and shit. so the guy uber pissed (who wouldnt be) started bitchin up a storm blah blah blah im not driving this (and who can blame him) so my friend went about on how to get the dip stick out. well, under the car he couldnt drop the oil pan thanks to the cross member placement and its role as an engine mount, so what do you do? USE AIR!!! so he pulls the oil cap sticks the air hose in a little covers it with a rag and tries to blow it out, hmmm.... not quite air tight. so cap it all up and pull a vacumme line and start blowing, yet nothing seems to happen. so he pulls the air hose and PSSSHHHHHH!!!!! air leaks out, so it was working. well, more air pressure should blow out the dip stick right? why not! so he adds air more and more until what happens!!! the plastic valve cover explodes. lol. he got written up and jiffy lube had to drop 1300 on fixing that car. all in all, a good day at jiffy lube!

SportBikeMike 03-31-2007 11:33 AM

Wow, another reason to change your own oil. In fairness, and I don't know about the Altima, but the 350Z has like the worst oil dip stick ever, its like 8 feet long (seemingly) and crooked and a pain in the ass to get back in the hole (I've had alot of practice lately...)

hoov100 03-31-2007 11:42 AM

i should take the 87 to jiffy lube, have them **** up and replace my motor for free..

snwbrderphat540 03-31-2007 12:09 PM

yeah hoov idk about that, they didnt replace teh motor lol, and i doubt they will fawk it up that bad, your better off just rebuilding your motor for the fun of it and the benefits.

hoov100 03-31-2007 09:55 PM

nah, then i would have to buy parts, if it blows up from something they did, they i think by law they have to fix it..
