Anyone go to XDL last weekend?

Just curious if anyone went to XDL last weekend at Irwindale Speedway. As you know, GT Live (JGTC) was cancelled this year so the organizers put together a drift show and offered tickets at reduced prices. Basically there was a drift exhibition by 3 D1 drivers (Orido, Ueno, Taniguchi), the Falken drift team and motorcycle stunts performed by Team No Limit and Triumph Motorcycles.

They also had free test drives of the new Miata/MX-5 whatever it's called now. Crazy part was they told us to drive that thing as hard as we could through the course. There were people bouncing off the rev limiter, dumping the clutch at 4 or 5 K and the cars lasted all day long with none of them breaking. I have to say it was a fun car to drive even if it wasn't fast. Very easy to handle and the LSD made sliding the thing pretty easy, almost video game like. I also ran into an old high school buddy of mine who's a pro drifter now. Dunno if Ross Petty rings a bell. I took some pics while I was there, but I haven't uploaded them yet, I'll be sure to post them here when I get around to it.

sounds awesome, but why didn't you tell us about this BEFORE the event! Sounds like it was a good time. I met a NOPI model last night at Hooters.

Haha I thought people might have known about the event, but I guess next time I'll announce it too. And meeting a NOPI model, dude you're lucky. There weren't too many models at this show, but it's all good. Ragging on the Miata more than made up for it. Anyways, here's the pics, sorry if they become X's, hopefully I don't exceed bandwidth....

Ueno's Soarer

Taniguchi's Aristo

The Aristo's engine bay, that turbo's not that big right?

Orido's Silvia

Signal Auto's monster R34 GT-R, 9 second 1/4 mile passes and it can race on a circuit.

Falken's 1969 Camaro, yep an old school domestic! This thing sounded mean.

A Mustang on 20's.

TRD Supercharged tC, 200hp at the wheels from the dealer with the capacity to go up to 400. Pretty impressive.

Okay, here's some more pics. For some reason I couldn't post all of them in my last post. Anyways, enjoy.

A group of drift cars on display.

JZX90 Chaser, just your everyday 280hp 4 door sedan modded to 400hp.

RX-8 with some HKS parts under the hood, too bad they only had the hood open for 15 minutes...

HKS S14

Side view of the S14

Eibach S14

Lancer Evolution

Clean S13

The only RSX I saw

Can't go wrong with an NSX

One very nice S2K

Carbon fiber doors, headlight covers, and a C-West bodykit.

Can't believe this 240 wasn't in the show, I saw this one in the parking lot!

Falken's supercharged Mustang
