service problems

I just bought a touring Z and the check engine light came on within about a month. I figured that I had just forgotten to tighten the gas cap as I had just filled up the tank. But when the dealer service guy took a look at it, he said the the code was related to a transmission problem? on a car less than a month old and less than 1000 miles???? didnt make any sense.

Whats worse is when i got the car back it drove completely different. Acceleration response was poor and overall the car just felt loose. Maybe I am just being paranoid but I felt like the service guy was trying to encourage me to bring it back for more service.

Any suggestions on what to do? I would really like to have someone look it at to see if any thing deliberate has been done to the car but I dont really know of any good, reputable independent service shops. I live in houston.....any suggestions would be appreciated.

First check the lemon law in your state. Second talk to the service manager about your problem. Nissan are great cars but you do have some jackass service people. I brought my 350z to nissan to get the oil change and the service teck came to me and said that my engine cover is cracked. The tech told me that it was like that when I brought it in or the last guy who changed the oil did it. Little did the idiot know is that this was the first oil change and I installed a nismo cold air intake that mornining and the cover was not cracked. While the idiot was telling me this I notice oil was dripping from the bottom side of the hood where the oil cap hit it. The tech, when changing my oil, left the oil cap on my engine cover and slam the hood which cracked my cover! When I saw the oil dripping from the hood I look at the retard and told him to shut the F*** up and don't lie to me and I demanded for the service manager! So if you think you got screwed than you probaly did. If it was me I would demand a new transmission. FYI the 2003 transmissions had recalls on them and also the crankshaft sensor on all models. MAKE SURE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR IS REPLACED BECAUSE I ALMOST GOT INTO A WRECK. THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP!!
