Front License Plate Law

1 Attachment(s)
Currently attempting to get the California Laws to allow a 8 x 4 reflective license plate mounted on the inside of the windshield behind the mirror. Need as many owners and different car manufactures as possible to help get this done.

I have set up a site for a guestbook in case I have to use the Ballot Initiative to get the job done.

Really need as many owners as possible in the state of California to help.
Just sign on the guest book and leave a positive message so I can get the politicians to change the laws.

Thank you for your time,

GL with this one because Cali is strict on the plate issue. I don't think this law will change any time in the near future.

What is california's current license plate laws? Have to have a front plate?

I can't make out anything on your site. Don't use pictures for backgrounds on websites please.

And, No I am not a grumpy old man. I am actually a high school student(web design is a hobby).

Yeah, you have to have a front plate, and it has to be "visible" from all angles. Some people run around with the plate in the windshield, but it won't fly as it becomes a decapitation hazard, and an easy reason to get pulled over for $10 fix it ticket.

Holy crap, I do that with my 300. Have the front plate in the windshield, because I have no bracket up front for my front plate. I never thought of the dangers of it flying around in the case of a crash. Ohio requires a front plate, but I've never heard of anyone getting stopped for having it in the windshield.

too bad they wont allow you to use motorcycle size plates for your car...

Odd, I've been living in Cali all my life and now I'm down in OC, home of some of the worlds most over zelous cops...I don't even have the frame for my front plate, havent been sited once.

you don't have to have a bracket. mine is just screwed right into the bumper. i probably wouldn't have done it that way, but it came like that. it's not too bad. except if you walk by it and catch your leg on the edge of the plate.

i never had a front plate on my z31 when i lived in San Diego. i never had a problem with it. on the other hand, my dad got pulled over years ago in his old 'vette here in WA for no front plate. worst that will happen is a Fix-It ticket.

Bleach 09-23-2008 09:18 AM

I heard that a few years ago when they decided to actually start inforcing this law in WA that the ticket was changed from about $30 to $100.

Kool, i've been thinking we need driver selectable license plates for years. It sure beats having to sift through a pile of them in front of the cop trying to find one that matches. Of course, if ya had a decent running car the cop could never catch you in the first place. Used to be around here dmv issued temporary permits for 10 days to be placed in lower left front corner of windshield. Needless to say, that was license to pull your plates and see how many cops you could loose... HINT: DO NOT give girlfreind keys to house garage, when she parks 68 riviera in garage, you have no place to hide your new Camaro that the cops are ten blocks behind... New Camaro burried in yard debris...
