I don't think you should get so mad that someone says your 350Z hardtop isn't a true sports car. I get crap all the time about my 2+2 being ugly.... but whatever.

Anyway, I was just throwing out some ideas to talk about. I like to hear what people have to say about a FWD family sedan being a sports car! I think trying to make a sedan look and perform like a sports car is the essense of Rice.

Whether it's a true sports car or not, doesn't matter. It's an opinion, that's why it's debatable.

Now whether it's faster or not, that can actually be measured and proven right or wrong. That would be known as a fact. The fact is provable one way or the other.

If you guys wanna debate an issue, fine. No need to bash the guy for making a mistake. That type of behavior makes ppl not come back to the forum. We have few members as it is, no need to drive the ones we have away.

2nd with Rizz. He realized that he couldn't provide hard evidence when I asked him about it, so he gave it up. IMO the coupe and the roadster are both great looking and perfomring sports cars. And a civic and all those other cars like that aren't sport cars...at best....they are sport compacts.

First, I thought that it might have been a possiability for him to be in Iraq due to the statement in his biography...which he might be. But he also has 1 post! EVER! 1! How is that possible?! Who picks the moderators?

First of all some of you idiots should get a get a life. There are people out there that have other things to do than jump all over someone with somewhat idiotic and malicious comments. Secondly, thanks to those of you who defended a persons right to free speech without incurring what seemd like outright wrath. That be said. After looking through as many of the magazines I kept and had time for, Sport Z magazine in their Fall 2003 issue road test of the Z roadster said the roadster was quicker than the coupe Off THE LINE. They attributed it to a slightly lower gear ratio. 13.423(coupe) vs. 13.074 (roadster). But, Sport Z Magazine as well as Motor Trend and Car & Driver had the Coupe faster 0-60. They had the coupe at 5.4 vs. roadster at 5.8. So, I was sort of right and wrong. But if you want to kick my butt for .4 of a second, go ahead. I can take it.

That makes sense. I knew you probably weren't making it up, I figured that you had either been misinformed or interpreted something wrong. I wouldn't have guessed that, but that's pretty cool. IMO, the roadsters still look great too...no matter what everyone else says...are you with me mwest?

Hmm, interesting. Didn't know the roadster had different gear ratios. Sport Z said the roadster was quicker "off the line" than the coupe, but measured the coupe to be faster 0-60. I was wondering, how does someone measure "off the line" quickness? Is that a seat of the pants kinda thing?

I guessed it was....you line em up and check it out. I guess one could argue that it's not a valid test (which it's not) due to the difference in drivers. Impossible to get 2 identical drivers. I'm not sure how they'd do that. I guess you just measure the 60 ft or something. I dunno...what's your reply to this mwest?

Just so you know, I'm not disputing what yoiu're saying. I'm just wondering how they measure it. Also, IMHO, the roadster is a nicer looking than the coupe. I've only seen one. It was black and beautiful.

well i am sure they don't get 2 drivers that are alike, they just run a bunch of starts with the cars...thats how i'd do it but if it's faster off the line how come it's down .4 at 0-60. 350 must have some mad power at high rpms. and .4 seconds is not worth fighting and arguing over. both cars are beautiful, and it's just a matter of prefference. why would they change the gear ratio in a convertible?

Sure you can. Haven't you ever seen the movie The 6th Day. Just clone one. Maybe they have an 1/8th mile mark, or something similar. From the results that we've seen, it sounds like the 350 has very good low end torque & power.

Oh, so I guess that's good for when you're drag racing through an intersection. From one cross walk to the next.

Sigh....I don't know what I would do if somone said that to me after I destryed them in the 1/4, or on the track, or up a winding mountain road. I may be left speechless.

I agree, but a roadster is for a little more asthetic flavor and not so much performance as the coupe. roadster=those who want to cruise
coupe=those who want to go faster than the roadster.

I'll probably catch hell for this, but shouldn't they just buy a Z32 TT? I must say Arctic Pearl Glow is an excellent color choice. Very classy look. Sophistication with a mean streak.

I don't think you should be giving Z33 owners any ideas.

Like what, trading their Z33's in for a Z32 TT so they can have a faster car? J/K

Exactly!

It seems like 350Z owners have some cash. Imagine if you had about 30G's to spend on a car. What would you do? Spend it all on a car or buy a low price car and mod the snot out of it!?!

See my point now.

a TT with another 20g's to spend....hmmmm. Do the math, that's a fairly nice Z32 I'd say.
