z1 ecu vs. jwt ecu

Just curious if anyone has any oppinions/experiences with either of the two.. I am torn between the two and was hoping to get some oppinions. What are the pros and cons of each...Any tips would be great

all i know for fact is that JWT tunes their ECU's a little richer. which if yah ask me is a good thing because it will help prevent detenation

b300z 02-14-2007 08:13 PM

as snwbrder said, jwts ecu is more conservative than the competition.
and i would reccomend ash, not z1. http://www.ashspecz.com/
his is cheaper, has a more agressive tune

for the $500 why not just pay a good tuner who knows what he's doing to tune your car for what you have and your climate??

snwbrderphat540 02-14-2007 09:11 PM

wouldnt you need a standalone or SAFC (which aint the same still) to tune your car any where near as well as a flashed ECU? i-i- i dont get it

hoov100 02-14-2007 09:41 PM

buy the software, that allows you to adjust the peramiters of the ECU, what you are getting with those ECU's is just a blanket tune, just a good base tune, like if i bought an ECU that had been tuned in the humid summer in the south and now the ECU is going into a desert with almost no humidity, theres just ALOT more power to be gained by having a guy come and physically tune your car, with your specific conditions and your specific mods, with YOUR motor..

snwbrderphat540 02-14-2007 09:43 PM

i dont think the stock ECU has parameteres that allows you to do extensive tuning on it like that. i bleieve teh JWT and such are chipped to over ride the signals and are there on able to be reflashed.. they tear the ECU open... idk ecu tuning so im from hear on tuning out ;)

hoov100 02-14-2007 09:49 PM

in close, for the price its best just to have someone come and tune YOUR car..

ZLover4Life 02-14-2007 11:05 PM

But I would trust Jim Wolf or Ash before I would trust anyone else with my ECU tuning. And for that matter, the JWT and Ash general programs are very acceptable. (But if you really want someone to custom tune it, Ash does that too.)

b300z 02-15-2007 08:45 AM

Ash's chip is only $250, and its a good place to start

Ash......... (message had to be at least 10 chars)

ZLover4Life 02-15-2007 03:54 PM

(I still prefer the conservative tune of JWT. I'd rather be safer than have a couple extra horsepower.)

it's in my Link Page but i'll put here just for you cuz you're special. at least that's what your momma always told you right?

napoleonzheking 02-18-2007 12:59 PM

Ash is more bang for the buck, because of simple price reasoning.

kenpomgm 02-18-2007 01:07 PM

I have had Ash's ECU in my car for two years with no issues. I also have a SAFCII which makes it a bit easier to fine tune my car since it is an NA with turbo injectors. The combination has worked well for me.

But the best ECU gives no bang for any buck... I certainly don't want a bang... which is why I went with JWT. :037:

j/j

Both products are good. I'm just a little overly traditional in some minds.

napoleonzheking 02-19-2007 02:16 AM

I don't literally mean bang... lol
