what to watch out for 300zx motor/tranny?

im looking into buying a 300zx cause i think there one of the coolest looking cars.

anyway what are the common problems that these motors/trannys have or are prone to (not including normal car shit more like model spacific). i.e. blown headgaskets, overheating, bearings, knocks, ticks, ignition problems whatever.

and are the manual trannys good or do they have a lot of bearing failure/shifting problems asociated with them.

and are they like civic 1.6 liter or chevy 350s where they cant die and if they do rebuild it or are they more like masza rotorys where if you screw it up its done with throw it away.

and what is a lot of milage on these is 125ish a lot are they 200k cars or can they reach the 300k mark.

From what I've read everyone seems to agree the transmissions are on the robust side to say the least. The rest seems to require a good amount of attention and maintenance, but I don't know of anything in particular that might be problematic - some other guys might know more about this though.

As for mileage, it all depends on how it was driven and maintained, and what seasons it's been through. For us Canadians a general rule of thumb for "mileage" is about 25000km per year for an all-seasons car. My '91 has 175000km, but even considering that it was never winter driven I find that's still pretty low.
