Weired Interiro Noise

It's not a shriek, it's not a rattle, sounds like a small bearing noise, but more like the old deskjet printers with the soft sound quality of a whistle. Comes on shortly (10-15 minutes) after the car starts rolling, an goes away shortly after the car stops rolling, motor running. There's no real pattern to it, sometimes short bursts, some time a long burst the short, just random in duration and period. It's however not a steady shriek - well, not yet. On driver's side the shriek seems to be coming from the passenger door area, from the passenger side it seems to be coming from the driver's side door. From dead center, it seems to be coming from the pod on the center of the T-Top "H." I haven't checked my service manual yet, but there's got to be some kind of fan in that pod - I can see breathing slits on that pod. Could that be the source? It just started this morning and it's driving me nuts!!!

Thanks man. One more thing to pull out this weekend, depending on weather. BTW, any clues as to how to take the pod down? Is the fan serviceable or just replace it?

Replace it, and as he said, it's a very common problem. How to remove it? I couldn't tell you... I've been fortunate enough to never have one fail on me. =D

There is an adjustment screw on the fan, I used it to fix mine.

I pulled it out, lubed with some lithium grease - for some reason the noise got worse - constant steady whinning!!!! I then adjusted the screw (even though I have no idea whether I advanced or slowed fan speed!!!!!) and the noise is gone - well, for now. I called my local Nissan shop and ordered a replacement unit!!!!!!!!! Now I hope the replacement unit comes already adjusted.
