Transmission question

I have a 1995 300zx with a bad automatic transmission. I found a 1991 300zx and i wa wondering if i could swap the tranny out of the 91 into the 95 Thanks -slvrttzx

Sorry haven't gotten to ya sooner.

But in answer to your question, yes you can swap it. One of the constants throughout the line has been the transmission and its mounting points. Thank God. Not like there wasn't enough changes throughtout the years. LOL

Thanks so much for responding. I was wondering if it would be more cost effective to swap the tranny, or to get my tranny rebuilt if there are any rebuild shops in the Phoenix area.

I guess it would depend on how much you can get a used tranny for. You could go the junkyard route but you'll have the unknowns to deal with plus you don't know how good it is or if it even works. You could weigh that against an estimate from a dealer or AAmco or similiar shop. Check your yellow pages.

RE: Transmission bad

It cost me $1,800.00 for Coleman Taylor to re build mine. I had to take it back and it took them 3 weeks to fix it because they didn't get all the metal out the first time.

Next time I'll stick with a stick (like my old '86 has).
