temperature gauge

Ok so I had a coolant leak fixed a while ago. It was coming from under the intake manifold and they did a decent job stoping the leak but now my temperature gague flutters on start up. My thoughts were bad sending unit or air pockets in the system. Also when I got the car back it seems to have been detuned. it runs fine but it dosen't seem as powerful as when I took it in. Any thoughts? Could air in the cooling system cause loss of power? thanks.

Hmm...

Well I'm not getting much of a response... I'm not a nissan certified mechanic so maybe I don't sound as hard core as some here but if I knew everything about Z's why would I need to come here? And why would this site even exist? I know a temperature gauge isn't as exciting as a post about which turbos or intercoolers should I buy... maybe I should have titled my post "Free monkey giveaway" or "selling my 10 out of 10 z32 for 500 dollars" lol anyway it just seems a little chilly in here...

Well I read it and had no real answers for you.

Make ya feel better? :-P I'd rather give you no information than incorrect information but here goes:
I did experience, in a non-zcar, a situation where a temperature sensor strictly for the ECU was malfunctioning and causing the car to run all kinds of crazy including misfiring and cutting out. The reading was changing erratically and drastically enough to cause some serious !@#$. I was shocked when I replaced the sensor and life was good again.

Thanks for the response! It only seems to happen on warm up once the engine reaches operating temp it stays pretty steady. The engine runs pretty steady though the only time the engine does anything weird is when I'm driving on the freeway downshift and accelerate. When it gets to around 5500 rpm it feels like the ecu is pulling timing but my thinking is that it just needs a tune up and injector flush.
