Stock Turbos

Hey does anyone know the size of the stock Turbos? I was asked by a 3000GT guy and couldn't find it in Rizzs links.

they're small. I know that much. But they can still push 20+ psi, seen it done.

False..

17psi is about the max efficiency

actually you're wrong. I've personally seen with my own two eyes stock automatic (smaller than manual) turbos boost to 21 psi. My buddy charles did it with his car at the track when I was there helping him pit. He came back and his HKS EBC lets him show his max boost on the last run and it showed 21 psi. We were all shocked. Where do you get your info Evan?

sure you can boost that high but its not efficient and useless..

Do you know about efficiency of turbos?

Ive been around Zs for a long time :burnout:

well, it was effecient enough for him to run low 11s on stock turbos and stock intercoolers. btw, boost is pressurized air, the more boost, the more power. period. 20 psi on stock turbos isn't going to flow as much air as 20 psi on td06's, but it's still a lot more power than 17psi on stock turbos. And yes, he's killing his turbos, but he doesn't care as it's just a personal goal for him to hit 10s with stock automatic turbos. :dancing:

how are you calling me out for BS?! I'm sure you're an expert on Zs. THAt's why you think that exhausts sound the same on NAs and turbos and that you think you hear a BOV at idle. How do you host a vid, I have one to shove in your face.

The fastest stock turboed 300zx in the country ran an 11.6 (note, not low 11s). Second that is a BOV you hear at idle, intakes dont make pschhh noises when the throttle boddies close. YOU CAN MAKE BOOST AT IDLE, just not very much.

this is early on in the game. it's an 11.9. since then he's added slicks (as you can see in the vid that he sits there for a while trying to get traction) and a fully built tranny with a different stall and a bunch of other stuff and a dyno tuning session. If you can make boost at idle, enough to set off a BOV, I'd like to see it.

wow evan....
a few short posts and you're already swearing at ppl and calling them liars.....
if you disagree, say you disagree. This aggressive negative attitude is very dissapointing to me.
If you want to debate, it's actually possible to do so without lowering yourself to the low standards set on other forums. If you haven't noticed we're not like that here.

Evan - just a bit over the top.

If you have some technical expertise, you will normally find some good discussion. We really want to learn, but this is on the aggressive side.

Stay on topic, and clean up the lanugage, please. OK?

Uhhh, you mean you're in kindergarten. Listen to Rizz and lightspeed, or take your [opinion] elsewhere.

I'm waiting to listen, but he wont post the modlist because the car doesnt run 10s on stock turbos.

And at the point where he was running 20+psi he would have to remove so much timing to avoid detonation he would have less power than at 15psi.

Evan, you don't know anything about Z's. You say that you know so much, but you own an NA and claim you know more about TT's than people who have owned them and worked on them. He was running stock timing. You've said a lot of things on this forum that show that you really don't know what you're talking about. You've claimed that you're exhaust sounds the same as the same exhaust on a TT, etc etc. Let me know how to post a vid and I will. C16 race gas takes care of detonation. Have you seen someone try to run 20 psi on stock turbos and fail or are you just assuming whatever you want to. Here's the mods that I can think of on top of my head:
HKS exhaust
GD split DPs
GD testpipes
SAFC II
HKS EBC
popcharger
slicks
removed sway bar for dragging
skinnys in front
silicone IC pipes
CF driveshaft
there's more, but I can't think of it. I'm sorry that you're ecperiences haven't taken you to the same places mine has. Oh, and another guy in our club just built a 900hp TT. I watched/handed tools while he did that too for a little while. I don't care if you don't believe me. Whatever, call me whatever you will. But don't do it on here and clutter up our forum and make this forum lose respect b/c some of us like this place. If you're gonna start crap, PM me and I'll ignore you, but don't diminish the quality of Zdriver.

One part of me says...nice....

The better part of me says that if this is your car...you have no credability left, at least not in my eyes.

You post introducing you and your "slow NA". You state your mods on your "slow NA" are just intake and exhaust.

You rant about time slips from EMO when you yourself do not post dyno charts for the Ztuner ECU you support as Rizz asked.

So my question to you is...what is your game? What is your purpose for posting? Without credibility, your not going to help others much. Are your antics some sort of self gratification or some sort of cry for attention?

My question to you is..

What information that i have posted has been false info (Other than the fact that my car isnt NA)?

I have seen the maps for the differend ECUs and can tell you that Ztuner and GMS are both better than Ash/JWT, and cheaper too. How can you argue that they arent? Other than the fact that you havent heard of them.

Well check out www.z32racing.com and see who has the 2 fastest stock turboed 300zxs, thats right GMS and Ztuner, and neither are in the 10s.

Also, back to the topic, 21psi on stock turbos is idiotic, anyone who knows how to build cars knows that sure it may sound good but at that boost level you are actually making less power than at a lower boost setting. Its all about efficiency of the turbos.
