I read the long write up on inteercoolers and decided I want to go with Stillen. I found a used pair on ebay for 500 bucks.

I can get them brand new for 750 @ concept Z performance. My question is if they don't sell and I can get him down into the 300 range, is there anything wrong with buying used intercoolers?

get a fin comb to straighten out any bent fins from rock impacts hope they arent painted over (some people do stupid **** like that) and they might have a leak. you cant tell until you have them. if he was local i'd take them to get pressure tested. my buddy is a cummins diesel tech and has all the fitting for pressure testing IC's it sure is nice haha.

fin comb like he said... use them in the heating and air business on the big ac units outside after hail storms to straighten the fins back out.

if you can't find one, check local hardware store, if you still can't find one, check a heating and air conditioning service center.

I remember reading somewhere there is another SMIC with a larger surface area that are better than the stillens, can't remember which ones though, however if your getting the stillens that cheap, can't beat that.

maybe ask the seller why he's selling them?

ARC's and Ash's are both larger than Stillen, but both are far more expensive (well, Ash's intercoolers themselves aren't much more, but they are 2.5" inlets and other things that need to be done for them to fit). Stillen's are the best bang for the buck.

And for the record, if the intercoolers have a leak (which could explain why they're so cheap), that can be fixed relatively easily.

What makes you think you can get them so cheap from Coz? I believe $750 is below his cost...

You can always talk vendors down on price... but I don't think it'd be possible for Coz (or any vendor, for that matter) to sell Stillen intercoolers for the $750 he states without taking a loss.

he said the intercoolers are on ebay and if they don't sell he's going to try to talk the seller down. Kind of against ebay's policy since they don't get their cut of the sale, but eh, how can they prove it right?

I've done it before, and most of the time the seller will agree since they don't have to pay listing fees, lose 10% of the sale, and all the other jazz involved with ebay.

Wow... that price dropped RIDICULOUSLY since I bought them 2 years ago. I had to point out that his price ($1000 at the time) was higher than everybody else's (which were around $950). Ultimate Z still sells them for $950 and Z1 sells them for $995.

At $750, new Stillen intercoolers ABSOLUTELY cannot be beat.

that is surprising. i saw them on that website a few weeks ago for 995 or 1000. i'm almost positive. you think the market is going down and they just need to move some products? or is it a sale?! i'll jump on it!

Can the stillen's fit with the turn signals in without any problem or is there cutting nessicary? Is there any difference with a Jspec Front Fascia (99 bumper). And since I got my Z I've seen the4 Stillens on CZP for $750 (hope the price doesn't rise before I can afford/need them.

I think I'm just going to buy them new. Its really not worth all the hassle to save a couple hundred bucks.

i'm contemplating starting to collect parts for a turbo swap. but i don't want to devote yet

at any rate, it obviously wasn't a very serious comment. i was kinda making fun of how a lot of people buy anything that's on sale. i thought of my grandmother, who buys 2 gallons of ice cream every time it goes on sale then eats that for months.
