One piece drive shaft

Im going to order a one piece drive shaft when I get my 1st pay cheak at my new job . I was just wondering, Im planing to get one from Z1. Do they make good ones? and Im shure ill figure out how to install it caz I changed the drive shaft on my firebird, but what do I do with the carrier bering? and will I have issues with it hitting stuff when I lower my Z, like I plan on doing?

Thanks for the help

I bought mine from Z1. I have nothing but praise for the quality of the product! I would recomend the steel line of one piece shafts just for ease of mind. Easier to install than the factory two piece! If you do get one--there is a grease zurk on either end that will require grease before u install. the one piece eliminates the center carrier bearing (no vibration/noise problems) and it tucks up under the car better beacause of this. you will not have any clearance issues with the driveshaft...if anything the tranny and dif would hit before the driveshaft.

Got mine from Z1.

Its Tight.

Its easy to install. ((Ive never installed one before, and had no idea what I was doing. I did it myself thoug. Eaaaaaaaaaaasy.))

No clearence issues. You have to take the exhaust off to put on becuase it basically sits on top of the exhaust.... sorta.... kinda.

should be simple.
just take care when removing stock DS. It's heavy.
especially compared to the 1pc, it's more than twice as heavy, so don't hit yourself in the head with it.

Hahaha.I'll make shure it doesn't fall on me. Im a little worried about my exhaust bolts...I took alook and everything I will have to remove and noticed that my exhaust bolts look like they are rusted to the exhaust. I hope I dont break one off. And does the carrier bering bolt to the car itself?

I just ordered the 1-piece from nyxMotorsports. I'll let you know what I think after install next weekend probably. Anyone else with this 1-piece?

BTW, I think you only gain about 2hp to the wheels with the lighter 1-piece!!

More than that. Weight = horsepower too (well not technically, but it does = speed), what is that saying "every 7 pounds is 1 hp"?

I believe it's 10 for normal weight and 2 for weight within the drivetrain

You have to use a hand pump or something of the sorts. Here's a good write up that may be useful for you.

Your HYDRO power had nothing to do with the DS snapping. FYI....Don't hi-jack threads to talk about your HYDRO power.

all he said was that the pics of his snapped driveshaft were in the hydro power thread. he wasnt talking about hydro power, just telling you where the pics were. his comments were about driveshafts, and therefore, in the right thread.

Got my DS from Z1 yesterday and tryed to put it on today. I ended up takeing it to the local tranny shop caz i couldn't get the danged exhaust bolts off . I broke 2 "crapsmen" sockets trying to get them off and went through about half a can of PB blaster and they wouldn't budge. The place built me a completey costom tranny for my firebird so they hooked me up. I was going to to a wright up on it but didn't get very far. but here is a pic of the DS.

yeah i told Z1 and they are sending me a free one , but when my trans comes, im going to crate it with my old trans (the old one) on the crate they sent, they will investigate the reason, they said that it might have bin a dimple or a thin spot in the middle of the shaft that made it break ill give you update when they recieve the shaft
