oil pressure question
Ok, bought this 1990 2+2 n/a from a chick that only put 1500 miles on the car since 2006. Apparently i overlooked the oil change sticker that showed this nice piece of information. I fixed the a/c blower motor found a ton of loose bolts, and hose clamps. Everything works on the car.
Here's my question:
I have not changed the oil yet and only drove it home. It runs fine. Accept the oil pressure won't go past 20psi. Is this because of the old oil, maybe settling down into the filter clogging oil pathways? I noticed lots of oil resedue on the oil pan and transmission, yet the car has not dropped a single tear of oil yet. Will just changing the oil be enough or should i flush it with some kind of oil flush and then change the oil? I've had bad experiences with oil flush causing leaks like a mother f. Car had no lifter noise when i test drove it. But when i got it home after about a 12 mile drive the lifters started tappin like a honda. Any suggestions will be helpful.
Only reason i haven't changed the oil yet is because i don't have the cash yet.
BTW:
If anyone lives near Knoxville, TN and has a stock stereo setup, hatch struts, front driver leather seat, rear seat backrest, and or stock carpet in good condition for the back hatch cargo area let me know. Could trade or buy the stuff.

First off would like to say hi. I live in Kingston which is about 20 min. west of Knoxville on I40.
I recently did the TT swap in my z32 and on the na and TT motors the oil pressure would sit at 60 psi when cold then when warm it stays around 20-30 psi.

Get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, or live with the fact the stock guage will never be accurate. (warm oil pressure will be about 35psi ish at idle) also cold oil pressure at about 2-3k RPM will be in the 80-90psi range.

Makes sense. The factory boost gauges were always off too.
