Light Prblem

Please Help!!!!

I drive a 1990 300ZX n/a 2+2, and regular headlights arn't working. When try to turn them on only the bright lights work.
The fogs dont work either, my turn signals work but only in the back. My break light works, but the red lights that are in the back dont to turn on either. When I activate my alarm the the regular lights and the yellow ones on the side blink just like there sopposted to.
thanks

Sounds like a fuse or a relay to me..
I'll take a look at my 300 tonight to see if there is anything I can find out..

have you done any work on it lately? or were you driving it and one day they just stoped working?

FSSMan3 Mar 11, 2003 08:54 PM

actually I had my front end repainted a few days ago, but it was working fine, untill earlier today. My pasenger side turn signal light stopped working. notthe acually blinking light but the lightbulb that stays on when u drive with ur lights on, so i unscrewed the light and took out the bulb filed the connector on the bulb itself and put it back in to the light, saw a spark and looked up and my bright lights were on and both turn signals were off, no cotroll of the fogs, and the rear lights that come on as you drive when the lights are on wont work either. However everything works when I arm and disarm my alarm system.

When you got the front painted did they take any lights off the car ie: fog lights, turn signals ect... I would check all the plugs to all your lights mmake sure there all pluged in. If so then I wound do continuity checks @ the farthest ends of the circits. Its possible that your alarm is wired in such that it gives the the light power via a relay to the positive of the lights allowing them to flash on and off.

Could it be a fuse? and if so how could I check the fuses, and or relays, where are they located in the car?

drag_300japan Mar 12, 2003 08:16 AM

ok two fuse boxes one under the hood drivers side just behind the headlight mounted on the fender. the other is behind the kick panel @ your feet next to the pedels on the door side. happy hunting and take a flashlight!!

The fuse labled H/Lamp RH and H/Lamp LH look fine, these are the 15A fuses that u can check that are labled BATT, But how can I check the H/Lamp RH and H/Lamp LH big fuses, that are in the blue and green covers, i unplugged them and pluged them back in, but no luck.

are you talking about the 1" blocks these are relays the other things 1/2" things are fuses they have clear tops you should be able to see the brass strip unside.
try this manual look in the el section
