JWT Sport 500

What supporting modifications does a Z32TT need to upgrade the Jim Wolf Technology Sport 500 turbos? Basically the minimum amount of modifications needed to support the turbos, other modifications will of course be done later.

Minimum upgrades.....ECU, fuel injectors, clutch. That's the absolute minimum, but that's doing things a bit backwards. You should do exhaust (at least cat-back) and a pop charger. Usually it goes #1 - Pop charger #2 - Cat back exhaust #3 ECU. I've never seen anyone do a turbo as an early stage upgrade. You'll also want to consider a lightened flywheel and 1 piece driveshaft. Why are you looking at upgrading the turbos so early in the upgrade process?

Thank you for the information. I am not looking to do a turbo upgrade first off. I am simply doing all my research. I like to plan out exactly what modifications I am going to make and when I am going to make them to reduce waste in money and in time. I currently drive a '91 240sx with the red top swap. On the stock t25 turbo and many modifications I put down 279rwhp and did a 12.9 second pass at 109mph. I resently upgraded to a td06-20g turbo that brought me to 356whp. With that set-up i ran a 12.2. I should b able to produce well over 400whp once i get stand alone engine management. It is just the MAFS and ECU are all confused w/ the upgrades. But the car is getting to the point where it is barely streetable. My uncle is buying his neighbors mint condition '95 300zx TT (He is getting a great deal as far as price). We plan on trading cars so that he will own my 240 and i will own the Z32. But this way we can keep the 240 and eliminate all the streetable aspects to make it more track worthy and I will have a car that I have dreamed of owning.

As far as modifications. Immediately I plan on getting full 2.5in turbo back exhaust, JWT POP charger, JWT ECU, RPS Disk and Flywheel, and a short throw. I would like to get Tein Adjustable Coilovers, because I loved them on my 240. But everything takes time and money. It took me three years to put my 240 together and its still not done.

The 240 is bordering on unstreetable with 400 whp? That sucks. With the sport 500's and the mods you've listed, plus the necessary injector upgrades and ECU programming, you'll be in the ballpark of 500 whp. The Z is still very streetable at that level. IMO, it's a more user friendly car.

You should consider the Ashspec ECU available through z1 motorsports over the JWT. It safer and it outperforms the JWT.

thanks for the tip on the ECU. i saw some threads on that, but no one was ever specific about the differences. i was jus gonna go w/ jim wolf just cause it is a brand that i am more familiar with, but if u can give me some more in depth info on the differences it would b greatly appreciated.

the 240 gets close to unstreetable jus b/c of the power to weight ratio. the 240 only weighs 2600 w/ the SR20. so it is quite difficult to grab traction.

i hope you're not hoping to make the Z32 into a dragster like your 240. That's not what the Z does nor what it was meant for. The rear suspension geometry is not set up for drag racing so you might end up being a little dissapointed if you don't get comparable numbers to your 240 in the Z even with larger hp numbers.
As far as upgrades go, I made a chart around here somewhere. It's a sticky in one of these sections.
Also, check out my link page. It contains all sorts of bits and pieces of information that might help ya out a bit further. Everything from history, faq's, how to's, and retailers.

i have been using ur link page quite a bit rizz. very useful. not looking to make this a dragster at all. this is my gonna b my all around great car. speed, style, sound. my uncle owns the 240 now. that is the dragster. the z32 is beyond that. especially since parts r a lot more costly for the z.

the reason y i am gettin rid of the 240 is because im spending unbelievable amounts of money on it and i cant stop myself. the car isnt even painted and i havent even started redoing the interior.

the z is in mint condition and i can spend some money now to bring the all around performance up and stop there. i will b happy with the car the way it is and i wont force myself to keep lookin to go faster and faster. i wont try to spend more money to break into each second barrier. i will jus spend wut i need and then enjoy the car. a few modifications will make the z perfect in my eyes. while the 240 still needs a whole lot more done for me to b satisfied.

sounds like a good plan.....we'll see if you actually stick to it or not tho. lol

I'm glad you're enjoying my link page. That's what it's there for. For ppl like yourself to learn about the Z and hopefully appreciate it more. :D
