Intake valve cover gaskets.
Anyone heard anything about Nissan changing the intake valve cover gaskets?? I got some from nissan and they are too "tall" preventing the valve cover from bolting down flush. Nissan insissts they are the correct gaskets and that nissan recently "changed the design of them". anyone else heard anything about this? will post pictures when I get home from work.

I just tore a motor down, and there were no valve cover gaskets. Only RTV.

And no, I haven't heard of them changing it. But if it seals properly, the cover doesn't have to bolt down flush. |
The old gasket... notice how it's kidna flat around the edge..

I wouldn't be as worried as you are.
If you haven't done the coolant bypass and EGR elimination, do them... that way, if you do happen to have to pull it again, the plenum will only take about 15 minutes. |
coolant bypass and egr are done. I ordered some felpro gaskets (as well as an AC compessor) from advanced to see how they fit. (nissan ac compressors are WAAAY to expensive).

Those gaskets are correct. I just did my engine and mine where the same. Yours are flat (old ones) because of the time they have been on there and heated and squashed etc... The ones you have are the correct ones. FYI I have zero leaks after my install.
Here are engine pics of what i did: Was: Attachment 21029 Attachment 21030 Is: Attachment 21031 Attachment 21032 Attachment 21033 Attachment 21034 |
