i have a 300zx(z32) with bad engine. and i wont to get a wrecked infiniti j30 for about $500 (i found some already) and take the engine and tranny out of it and put it into my zx. i have looked around and found out that they have the same engines. but i also heard that only the 93 and 94 j30's will work on the 300zx. is it true? and i also heard that the ones newer then 94 have timing chain not timing belt.

 

This is one of those rare questions that is far better suited for twinturbo.net. While most of us here have sufficient knowledge of the 300ZX and the VG30DE(TT), I cannot say with certainty that anybody here has knowledge of which J30 engines will swap into the Z32 (and if there was ever a timing belt version of the VG30... which I don't believe there was). I can promise you that somebody on twinturbo.net will have that answer though.
