High RPM

Hi everybody
I have a 1990 N/A that has 30k miles on the second engine, since I got this car last year the RPM still pretty high (about 2000 ) only when time is cold. Since this spring is colder than usual, the RPM still pretty high for about half hour, even if the engine reach it functional temperature. as soon as we have more than 60 degrees problems desappears.

Any idea?

Re: High RPM

after 30 minutes, where is the idle then?
how cold is this weather you are in?
2k idle is normal, but only at start up for 10 minutes until engine is warmed, i would try adjusting your idle, there is a write up on www.twinturbo.net in the FAQ link.
check the vacuum lines, and make sure there are not some huge leaks or anything.

Re: High RPM

Hi there!
Thanks for taking the time and answer my questions. This problem happens every time weather is 60 and below. Even if the engine is warm and the temperature indicator shows the normal temperature the RPM still pretty high for more than 30 min. by the way I’m writing from Montreal Quebec Canada, there are not much 300zx here, they are extremely rare. But as you said it could be a leak I will check for any vacuum. I’m changing the clutch next Friday hope everything will be fine. I’m afraid to have problems as a lot people that changed their clutch. I’m starting to modify my car is a 1990 N/A, 50 000 Kilometers on the second engine. Any suggestions?

Thanks
