help oil leak

i was hoping someone could help me. i recently met a flooded road and killed my 91 300 na. it was dead for a day and popped and sputtered (it had water in it) for a week after. i changed the oil, but it was too late i have a huge oil leak now. its leaking all over my pulleys and alternator and mainly on the passenger side. from reading forums ive come to the conclusion that its the front main seal, but trying to find the front main seal is not easy. i keep running into front camshaft oil seals and front crankshaft oil seals, and thought they were the same but then heard someone say they had to change both. so i need as much info as i can get are they the same, do i change both? i found some oil looking residue on a couple spark plugs too i know thats not good, but how bad is it. besides the leak, my car feels like its running great. help please please

Check out Rizz's link page and review the service manual. The seal is located behind the crank pulley. Considering that you don't know where the main seal is, then I'll go out on a limb and say this job is over your head. It is a fairly major job.

If you didn't cause major internal damage from this then I would consider you one of the luckiest people on the planet.

well of course im not a mechanic, but i can follow instructions. i know which pully it is, just confused on what to call it. and if that is where the oil leak is. if i do have it done i dont want to get screwed. im pretty sure its the front main seal, and im pretty sure the front main seal is the crankshaft seal, but while im trying to find the part, i cant find a front main seal, and im having trouble finding a crankshaft seal. i found the camshaft seal, but thats not the right one, right?

:) i knew i would catch hell. i guess ill prob do that. it cant be hard to pull off some belts and undo a pully pull out seal and put in another one right.

That statement there just scares me. Do you have any idea what a timing belt is and what could happen if you don't install it properly.

dont expect to get this done in a few days if you dont know what youre doing. and i wouldnt reccomend it if youre not very experienced/confident and dont have a lot of time/concentration avaliable to do this job

Not to mention needing the right tools.

thanks b300z i have all the time in the world, i think i might have to have the rear seal changed too, so i might just have them do it all. ill let yall know if i do tackle it, and how it came out for everyone that is waiting for me to fail :)

If you're changing the rear main seal, then if you have a 5 speed and it's been a while since the clutch has been replaced, you may want to consider replacing it also.
