help

i have a problem with my car (1990 na, automatic). Yesterday i came to a stop sign and then i took off really fast. right after i did that i would step on the gas and now it takes the car a long time to shift from 1st gear. if i keep my foot on the gas it will redline. so i have to let go of the gas for like 2-3 seconds and then the rpm goes to like 3000. i think i might have messed up my tranny or something. Does anyone have any idea wats going on? thankx.

Sounds like your trannys slipping in first gear. Try going to autozone and buying some Lucas No-Slip transmission additive and see if that fixes it.

If you know that your tranny is not slipping, and you have this problem in other gears too, maybe not as pronounced as in first, you might try checking your speed sensor / sensor connections. Does your speedo appear to be working properly? A signal from the speed sensor goes to the tranny ecu/module. You might check/clean these wires and connections.
