Fuel Treatment
 

I read a factory TSB that warned against using fuel treatment, ie: I assume STP fuel injector cleaner etc. Supposedly causes corrosion of the injectors.

Do people here use fuel injector cleaner? Any known problems?

I haven't heard of any treatments causing trouble to any cars. I have a few friends that swear by em. As soon as they buy a new car, they go out and buy em. I don't see why it would be any different. Just from experience I'd say go for it, just if your gonna buy them, buy the best. One thing, stay away from Octane Booster. That stuff is dangerous I once had to replace a guys engine in his eclipse, cause he put octane boost in his car with a quarter tank of gas. Blew the hole in the block, so just stay away from octane boost. Lemme tell ya not cool.

I'm a big fan of fuel treatments too, after reading studies of the negative h.p. effect of fuel/carbon deposits on the valves. As much as a 5 .h.p. loss after one tank of fuel in new vehicles.

I again raise the question because of a technical services bulletin warning that these treatments corrode the injectors. May be the plastic in the pintle cap. Was just wondering if anybody had experienced any problems.

I run Octane Booster in my motorcycle down in mexico. You oughta see what happens to an engine after 80 miles of sandwash at 80 m.p.h. in 110 degree heat on 80 octane, or less, PEMEX fuel.
