fix or swap??
just found out that my na valves are bent trying to decide if i should simply replace them or do a jdm swap to a tt... right now I'm just researching prices (by the way if anyone knows where to get one at a good price let me know)but I must admit I would like to upgrade to a tt just dont know as much about them... my mechanic is telling me about 1300 to fix it ... if i upgrade to a tt what are some of the things im going to have to buy and how much should i anticipate spending to upgrade (so far all the jdm tt motor come included most of them with the ecu so Im assuming thats normal)

Why do you want a "JDM" tt motor?
|
Just figured I could get a better motor .. For the money ready to go.. Is there another option .. Doesn't have to be jdm ... Just haven't been able I find anything in the area... Any suggestions
|
Sometimes the JDM motors are total crap. I bought one for a Pathfinder and it was great but others haven't been as fortunate. I would fix the valves on the NA to get the car back on the road then start accumulating parts for a TT swap but then it bothers me to have my car down for very long. Besides an engine you would also need intercoolers, all the piping, radiator, condenser, and exhaust just to start. That's why people buy wrecked TTs or front clips to do the swap.
|
thx... so with a stock tt motor ... it wouldnt come with intercoolers, all the piping, radiator, condenser, or exhaust?
|
Your best deal is to go to a parts yard ....alljapaneseauto wreacking in amarillo texas has over 50 plus 300zx tt parts cars and front clips... I was gonna go TT but all i had was 4,500 my budget didint call for 6,000 to do it right.

ohhh ive been to a couple down here in miami but havent found any cars ..
|
you should fix the na and sell it, or just sell it.
tt's arent selling for as much as they used to. I know in jersey you can get a decent mileage one for 6 grand, sometimes less. thats what its going to cost you do it the right way, and you dont have to worry about a beat motor or messing up an install or any of those issues. |
if you swap, take your time and find a low mileage USDM TT engine... I found one with 78k (which isn't too low, but decent) local in AR... the worst place to find Z32 junk.

Already dropped the new motor in my man. But thanks anyway.
I got a JDM with 60k on it from a really reputable dealer. A tt swap would be cool but Id rather just buy a tt then go through the hassle of it all. |
Thats funny, I thought this was my post about swapping a new motor in. Sorry for the jack.
|
If your gonna buy a JDM engine, get a 60k maint done on it., and general tune up
|
Clean it up too.
I had some issues with my swap, faulty injectors (so corroded they wouldnt read), clogged up pcv's (change them with the motor out, it will make your life easier), the throttle bodies were a little gunked up to. Spark plugs were fouled out. I didnt do the 60k, I have all the parts for it I just wanted the motor running well first before I jumped into that. |
