Electronic Boost Controllers.

OK, so these help regulate the boost pressure and prevent boost spikes. How exactly do they work? Are they worth it? Which ones are the best? How hard are they to install? I have a pretty fat tax-return coming, so I may need to do some frivolous spending.

Here's some info and comparisons.

Get that along with a boost gauge if you don't already have one. Oh, and since it's "fat" ....get me a set of DPs.

Z_WRECKER 01-20-2004 11:46 AM

and don't forget me 91zxtt.... i need a tt front clip :)

91zxtt 01-20-2004 05:45 PM

You guys sound like you're on Welfare. Always askin' for freebies. Emo...Do you work at all? Do you attend any of your classes? 2 days ago you had about 150 posts. Now you have over 300. How do you have time?

emo236 01-20-2004 06:54 PM

I only work during the summer. And I attend all my classes. I just go to here between classes and when I have time to kill. I live in a fraternity house, so it gets crazy here and it's nice to just sit here and post during the day. Also, I stay up pretty late I guess. And I didnt have 150 I had like 2-something at least. I'm also really enjoying how zdriver is finally speeding up. Its starting to get a lot more active!

91zxtt 01-21-2004 10:43 PM

Yes, I'm going to steal the thread, but I don't care because I started it.

Which fraternity?

emo236 01-21-2004 10:44 PM

Alpha Gamma Omega...it's a Christian fraternity...how's that for an oxymoron.

91zxtt 01-21-2004 10:49 PM

Yep, I'd say that's an oxymoron. So, are you a drunken bible thumper? How does that work exactly? Just from that last statement, I'm sure you can tell I'm not a religious person. I don't mean any offense by it. That's just how I was raised.

91zxtt 01-22-2004 08:49 PM

Back to one of the orignal questions, how difficult are they to install. Z1 recommends a boost gauge. What do you guys think?

emo236 01-22-2004 11:05 PM

No, I don't drink...I prolly will a little when I turn 21, but I've already done enough drinkning to last me in h.s. And yes, I agree with Z1, a boost gauge is important. The stock boost guage is very inaccurate adn since you're starting to raise boost and get other mods, it's important to get an accurate reading of what you are actually boosting at. Speaking of which..I need to get a boost guage. Autometer makes one that reads in psi and is easy to read and cheap.

Z_WRECKER 01-24-2004 06:52 AM

so 91zxtt....what did you decide? which boost gauge are you going with

emo236 01-24-2004 10:55 AM

I'm guessing your next post is going to be something along the lines of "where is a good place to mount a boost controller and boost guage"....correct me if I'm wrong.

91zxtt 01-26-2004 10:45 AM

It looks like Z1 recommends the Greddy boost controller. I'll probably get that. Thanks Emo, but I can figure out where to mount it.
