dos problemos in the belt section

there have been two strange occurances in the belt area of my engine. the first problem is there is a large bolt sticking out and it is rubbing one of the belts. i noticed it yesterday when my battery went dead and i dont remember it ever being there. it doesnt go in, it doesnt go out.

the second problem is happening somewhere inside that circle that i drew. it is making kind of a scraping or grinding noise, every once in a while, and most of the time when i hit the gas pedal. i noticed this problem this morning. any ideries of what it could be?

Is the bad bolt at the pinkish mark you made? If so, it looks likes it's a power steering mount bolt. It probably wasn't tightened all the way when the belts were put back on last. It should thread back in.

With your other problem. Try to pull the wiring harness back and see if there's something rubbing behind the harness. It could be the wiring harness rubbing on the belt.

yea the bolt is that pink thing, and the white part is where it is rubbing the belt. ill go try and jiggle or push something to see if the bolt will go in cuz i went at it with a ratchet and it didnt go anywhere.
and i think it might be the whole pulley that is rubbing against the cover. its gotten a little off balance since theres only 3 bolts there. theres some scrapings around the pulley too.

If zxtt is right about the bolt, it might be out far enough that the pump has turned and is rubbing something that it shouldn't. If the bolt won't turn, loosen the belt first to get the pump out of the bind that it's probably in.

What did Zwrecker do when he put that thing back together? Did he give you a warranty on that thing?

Hey i never had a fourth bolt....I think it might have gotten broken off when the timing bolt was changed last, so when i changed the water pump ( seal leaked on the old one) i never out another one in , but it was on my list of things to do, i promise. As far as the bolt goes, all my bolts were tightened fine. It's one of the things that drove me crazy ( belt noise in the winter ), so i would check/change my bolts religiously. I even had that power steering bracket changed ( took parts off my buddys Z ) because the old one was bent. When you had the radiator hoses changed did you guys mess with the belts? I can't imagine it just coming off because they were pretty tight on there. As a matter a fact i checked those things over before you came to get the car.

i have no clue what happened. i lost the nut for that bolt for the alternator.
and for the bolt for the pulley, do i have to get that exact bolt so that the pulley doesnt go off balance anymore?
my steering is always really tight the first time after i start up my car. is that something that the 300 does? its fine after i turn the wheel for the first time.

it feels like the power steering isnt working until i get to moving through the first turn of the weel, and then its fine. the steering wheel also pulls when i am driving. the tires are worn but i dont think they would be the whole problem
