Diagnostic test equipment ??
Does anyone know of any diagnostic test equipment that would good to purchase for a 1995 TT?
I've seen the professional equipment on E-Bay for under $1,000.00. How much better is this vs. the ones you can buy new for $200-$300?
What about the equipment you can buy that utilizes your own laptop? How and where does the wiring harness plug into your car?
Thanks.

Laptop? Harness Plug?
Are you talking about full engine management systems or a code tester to help you find out what's wrong with the car?
These are two completely different things. Therefore, they would require two completely different setups.
A full engine management system basically just replaces your ECU. Or at least the part of it that would control fuel, timing, and ignition, so that you could customize all of that according to your modifications.
A code tester/reader would only tell you what code your ECU is spitting out if there's a problem. Which would be a complete waste of money since it probably would be incapable of correcting the problem or clearing the code. If you wanna learn to read your ECU, this write up will tell you.
