Cold air Intake system on NA

I just got a 1990 300zx with 116000 miles on it, and was thinking about getting a cold air intake system for it. My question is, are all intakes basically the same? Or would I actually benefit from buying a $270 Injen, over say a $55 Bomz? And also, if I do install one, should I expect my check engine light to come on? And if so, how would I fix it?
Thanks

K ive got a '92 NA slick top with an intake system. I went about it differently. Instead of buying the kit from injen. I opted to buy the tried and true JWT Pop charger. Its basically the same as a K&N filter. And IT IS the same as a Stilln filter. The only difference is that you pay for the stillen name. As for the intake hard pipes. I bought mine from Z1, I got a set of RVM Hard pipes. I ve loved them ever since. i only payed like $120. Combin that with the $90 for the pop charger. You'll end up comin out better. And everyone who sees my engine bay complements the hard pipes. The REALLY improve the looks. You'll will also save a few pounds by dumpin the stock air box. Its up to you. I ve heard that the HKS intake is not that good for the Z32s. Since the pick up is so low, it is easy to pick up dirt, debry and water. They are good for high hp applications, but not for everyday steet use like my two Zs get

Your check engine light will not come on. The only thing is that you will need to make sure you do not damage or disconnect the MAF sensor. Its the round cylinder with the wiring harness coming out the air box. That thing is very important and expensive from the dealer. You will bolt the cold air intake to that when you remove the air box and shield
