CAm question
Looking for some info, what is the stock turbos power rating, meaning how much can they handle. another is could i run the JWT mild cams with out have to take off the head, i know i would have to take off the valve cover and everything on top of it but i mean with out take off the head from the bottom end. So guys let me know wats up ight thanks,
turbos and power and cams...oh my!
Mild cams will not put you over 500hp unless you are running 15+ boost on your stock turbos, if you are doing that you probably already upgraded your injectors so you wont run lean. Upgraded to colder plugs, already have a Manual or electronic boost controller, and already have at least a single pop charger upgraded your intercoolers, and aftermarket EPROM with the appropriate fuel maps.
What im trying to say is if you decide to put mild cams in you will also probably end up doing a bunch of the 120k kit along with the cams so you might as well do the whole thing unless you already did it recenty. Since the timing is accomplished by the timing belt there is no reason you need to take the heads off the bottom end to complete this install but you will also have to get your chip upgraded (call JWT to make sure) to accomedate the change in engine timing.
As far as turbos go, the stock ones do ok at slighty higher boost pressures but they wont last as long so plan to replace them sooner than later. Since they use relatively small compressor wheels they lose efficiency past a certian point meaning from 12-15lbs you get good results but past that you get much less back per pound you turn it up... The rule of thumb for the 300zx tt is anything under 500hp you can "comfortably" run on stock internals. after that you will need forged pistons, rods, rebalance the crank...it just gets really expensive and its never ending when you do that...and seems to just cost more and more money, welcome to the 300zx twin turbo.

Thanks man that the kinda info i need to choose the route i planning on goin. Well i understand bout alont have to upgrade or get it tune i was just asking bout it i would have to remove the head form the bottom end and how much the stock turbos can handle, so the extra info is very helpful on my like blue printing out how to get to 600+whp. I feel ya on how expensive it becomes to do anything on this car, and thats why i feel the need to do it to this one because alot of folks wont look or attempt to really get into it you know wat i mean. So thanks for the info
Another question, so realisticly i could run the cams with new injectors and a upgrade or tune right. the MBC i know i need and im gettin the SAFC-II to help, and the timing kit i already did when i put my TT motor in

the stock turbos are efficient to about 20psi actually... I run 17psi on them daily (and the few 11 and 10 second stock turboed Z's in the world run about 20psi). There have been very few people who have gotten over 400rwhp on stock turbos (in fact, I've never seen a dyno chart proving this feat, but I've heard of it on tt.net). Generally, about 420bhp is the max on stock turbos.
As for your cam question, I'm not really sure... I think you can do the cams with the heads still on the car, but that's not speaking from experience.

yo zlover4life if ya know the site or like some where i can peep those cars out let me know wats good with it. Well i feel ya on it, just doin research on things so i know the path i am most comfortable goin ya get me.
Go with the Greddy Emanage Ultimate, and the Profec E01 Boost Controller and you'll remove the need for the fuel controller, you'll also get injection/timing control from the Emanage as well.

Mine is being installed as I type along with some other goodies on stock turbo's I should have a dyno sheet along with that and I'll post it up when I get it to let you know how much you can get out of stock turbo's.
Here's what I have:
- UD pulley
- Emanage Ultimate
- JWT Chip
- Profec E01
- Downpipes
- Test Pipes
- HKS Turbo Exhaust
- Lightened flywheel
- Stillen Intercoolers
- JWT Street Clutch
- APEXi BOV
I'm hoping to at least get the 400-420 range and I think the car will do it with 15psi.

The difference between a short block and a long block is the heads... a long block comes with them, a short block doesn't. A short block is just the block, crank, pistons, and rods; a long block is the block, crank, pistons, rods, and heads.
Learn to use the search function, because all the answers you could seek have already been posted somewhere - you just caught me on a good morning where I felt like being helpful.
