Probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
simple answer...yes you should.
Emo what is that recharge kit you were talking about?
You can get it at just about any auto parts store. I bought it at Kragen for $10-$15. It includes the filter cleaner and oil to recharge the filter. The cleaner breaks up the oils and other crap trapped in the filter. After you clean it, you need to re-oil it.
sweet i will do that tomorrow:) thanx
It's a K&N product...there's other's out there. I don't know if they're different or not, but I stuck to something that I knew.
hey i just got my injen air intake into day. I bought it from power_garage@yahoo.com a seller from ebay. Rizz I took your advice how to buy from ebay. Now the fun part, put the intake on. I am glad you and EMO236 replied about intakes. hey Emo I love the body kit in the pic. oh yea I have to give a shout out to Z_ Wrecker.
Thanks, that's my Stillen gtz-r front. 91zxtt has the same one. And I don't think it should be too hard to put on, just be very gentle with the MAF and reset the ECU afterwards.

rhanx n_2_fairladyz. glad i could help in any way. i got injen intake on mine, and it came with these pretty red hoses and polished tubes. one of the hoses on the driver side goes to this solenoid valve thingy... anyway the stock hose was stuck on it so hard that i broke the little plastic piece that the hose goes on. that solenoid valve thingy gives engine more air to adjust the air/fuel ratio i think so i had to buy another one. $80... but oh well...just be carefull with everything you do in the engine bay and good luck
OK, so just to recap, it had pretty red hoses and polished tubes, then he broke the valve thingy. Those few words have caused me to question your automotive intelect. :D
See, if you woulda asked on what to look out for when installing the pretty polished tubes with the pretty red silicone couplers, we coulda told you to be careful of the air fuel mixing valve thingy. It woulda saved you some of that kinda important green money whatchamacallit. Then you wouldn't have that really nice, never sarcastic, expertly knowledgeable, forever observant, loyal ZDriver member 91zxtt questioning your mechanical aptitude.
:D :p :D |
lmao :) :D
I feel the love. Do you guys feel the love?:D :p :p
What can I say, sarcasm is my thing. :D
question.... Where do the metal tubes that are on either side of the intake spliter (the black rubber tube that connects to the AFM) go? When I cleaned my filter, I noticed that seemed loose. I could wobble them around a bit. The passenger side seemed more loose than the drive side. I'm wondering if this could be causing my high idle problem. |
man you guys are beating on me lately... i get no love. the reason i say thingy is bc i don't bother learning the parts names, but if you put me there i get the job done. my Z knowledge is not great, but i can get things done ;) and after all i have you guys to point out any mistake i make, so i have nothing to worry about :)
Just giving you a hrad time. May I suggest that you not use the word pretty to describe anything in the engine compartment ever again.
awwwww 91zxtt...does it make you uncomfortabe, me using words like pretty??? :) just kidding man. well how about good on the eye??? ;) could that work
You need to use words that would not normally be used by women when talking about shoes, purses, etc. Saying something along lines of, 'The red hoses and the polished tubes of my Injen intake look sweet." would have been satisfactory. Just an FYI.
yeah yeah yeah... i know i was just playing. i just miss driving my Z so much that everything on it looks better than i remember:( 2 more days.. i can't believe i've made it this long
Girls use sexy to describe shoes/dresses/etc....My car IS daaaang sexy!
Yeah, but guys use the word sexy too. Don't get me wrong, it's not like we use it on a daily basis. Guys never use pretty unless they're talking about a woman. Even then, there are better words. Like sexy.
i'd drive it ;) yeah your car is nice...i'll catch up to you man....i will
With the plans that you have, you'll pass me!
Anyways, enough about that. Can someone answer my original question of where the piping after the AFM leads? I noticed that the tubes that distribute air to the left and right intakes are loose. Where do they go? Second question...How do you/Can you tighten them? Here's my thinking....they're loose, so the engine is sucking in air after the AFM. This is like a vacuum leak; which could be causing my high idle and could be causing my summer-time pinging problem (due to heat/thinner air). The car is sucking in more air than is being measured by the AFM, so it's running lean. What do you guys think?
