Air/Gas/Saprk but doesnt start?!?!?!?
This is my first post! although iv been cruising these threads for years... I have searched and searched for an answere to this one and tried everything I could find and nothing... So heres my delema... im beyond stumped...
Im cruising out from work in my 91 fairlady... long day as always... about a quarter mile down the road the car looses power and just dies... nothing... nada... so I start going through the vehicle... I checked the fuel pump - all good! pressure and fuel...
It didn't seem to be getting any spark... so I pulled a plug and tested... nothing... so I did the usual:
Cleaned all connections between the coil relay and coil packs and there were some nasty ones... I tested the PTU (series 1) and tested good. CAS didn't seem to reliable though... it went a few turns without any activity.... I read somewhere that the PTU could still be responsible, thus I ordered a PTU from Z1 and installed.
Now it appears I get spark... but still doesn't seem to fire. I grounded coil 2 and turned the CAS slowly and I got a spark! whats more is that it seems now the CAS is working fine.
I counted 6 clicks during one rotation, is this correct? one coil obviously fired because I heard the fuel explode and go through the intake...
Im stumped... I don't drive like a jack *** and the gent I bought the car from was old, and he was the original owner and it was a dealership car... he went to them for everything. It has spark, fuel and air...
But lastly... An ECU code 11 newly came up after I replaced the PTU....
My Question:
Could the CAS still be bad even if it "tests" ok? im completely stumped.... I though perhaps timing? I marked where the CAS was before I moved it but have since tinkered with it, moving it to check timing... nothing...
Another culprit I saw could be the ECU but it seems fine... I'm hoping there's a relay, or a fuse I don't know about????
Iv looked for a wiring diagram between the CAS, PTU coil packs but haven't found a solid one.
PS:
Timing belt is fine - I checked it half way through writing this post
Also no fuses seem to be popped, I triple checked.
Also, the coil packs all have power.
New fuel pump relay just to be safe.
HELP!
